Book Canadian Whitetail Hunting

Download or read book Canadian Whitetail Hunting written by Dragan Vujic and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2004-06 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome to Canada-home of the big bucks. Whitetail monarchs freely roam through the hardwood forests and crop fields in the checkered agricultural belt of this vast land. Heredity endows our deer with large bodies and matching massive antlers, but environment dictates behavior. Canadian whitetails are different and behave differently from their southern brethren. No matter where you have hunted before, deer hunting in Canada is a brand new game. Your old, tried-and-true ways will not work here. New tactics and strategies are required. Veteran hunter, Dragan Vujic, shares close to forty years of hunting experience in this comprehensive book on Canadian Whitetail Hunting. The book itself is divided into three parts-The Facts About Canadian Whitetails (general information, game laws, social structure, habitat, communication, breeding behavior, anatomy, kill zones), Critical Factors That Determine Canadian Whitetail Behavior (weather, phases of the moon, hunting pressure, time of year, scents, doe to buck ratios, time of day, food sources), Effective Canadian Whitetail Hunting Strategies (archers, snipers, stalkers, callers, drivers, blockers). Within these sections, Dragan Vujic covers all of the key components for hunting whitetails in Canada. Additional chapters include tactics for all situations, the recently new phenomenon of hunting deer in the suburbs and tracking wounded whitetails. [email protected]

Book Landscapes and Landforms of Eastern Canada

Download or read book Landscapes and Landforms of Eastern Canada written by Olav Slaymaker and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-02-13 with total page 597 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This critical book focuses on the geomorphological landscapes of eastern Canada and provides a companion volume to “Landscapes and Landforms of Western Canada” (2017). There are a number of unique characteristics of eastern Canada’s landscapes, notably its magnificent coastlines, the extraordinary variety and extent of wetlands, the huge Great Lakes-St. Lawrence basin, the high incidence of meteorite craters, the spectacular Niagara Falls, urban karst in Montreal and Ottawa, youthful, glaciated karst in Ontario, Newfoundland, Quebec and Nova Scotia, the ubiquitous permafrost terrain of Nunavut, Labrador and northern Quebec and the magnificent arctic fjords and glaciers. Looking at coastlines, the tidal extremes of the Bay of Fundy are world renowned; the structural complexity of the island of Newfoundland is less well known, but produces an astounding variety of coastlines in close succession; the arctic fjordlands of Baffin and Ellesmere islands and the extravagant raised beaches of Hudson Bay bear comparison with the classic fjords of Norway and the Baltic Sea raised beaches. As for wetlands, there are distinctive Arctic, Subarctic, Boreal, Eastern Temperate and Atlantic wetlands, and their extent is second only to those of Russia. In the Hudson and James Bay regions, between 75-100% of the terrestrial surface is comprised of wetlands. One of North America’s largest river basins, the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence basin, has its source in Minnesota, straddles the USA-Canada border and debouches into Quebec as the St. Lawrence River and evolves through its estuary into the Gulf of St. Lawrence, a journey of almost 5,000 km. As far as meteorite craters are concerned, 10% of the world’s total are located in eastern Canada, including some of the largest and most complex landforms. They are preserved preferentially in the ancient Shield terrain of Quebec. Finally, the three million km2 of permafrost controlled relief in eastern Canada serves as a reminder of the vulnerability of eastern Canada’s landscapes to climate change. Effects of warming are expressed through thawing of the permafrost, disruption of transportation corridors and urban construction problems, ever-present geomorphic hazards.

Book Hunting Farm Country Whitetails

Download or read book Hunting Farm Country Whitetails written by Dragan Vujic and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2005-06-07 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In their formative years, whitetails develop an intimate relationship with their environment. Thereafter, these big game animals resonate in perfect harmony with their specific surroundings. Behavior patterns of timberland, mountain bred, prairie flats and farm country deer vary substantially. Whitetails behave differently depending on where they are hunted. Predominantly, habitat dictates habits and routines in daily activity. Deer patterns become relatively uniform and reasonably predictable in any particular region. Irrespective of where they live, all whitetails become creatures of habit. Dragan Vujic has hunted whitetails extensively in the checkered agricultural belts scattered along both sides of the border between Canada and the United States. He shares forty years of hunting experience in this informative book. Initially, Dragan examines and explores the common characteristics of farm country deer. Subsequently, he enumerates and analyzes the drivers and motivators of whitetail behavior. Thereafter, having integrated all of the relevant information, the author suggests several effective strategies for harvesting farm country whitetails. [email protected]
