En este trabajo también hay referentes teóricos que aportan a la discusión sobre el Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas del País, estableciendo las áreas protegidas que se podrían declarar en territorios de comunidades negras, de conformidad con sus derechos y deberes, sin excluir el uso y la presencia de estas comunidades. Es quizás, con temor a equivocación, uno de los pocos documentos en donde el tema de comunidades negras en Colombia se estudia desde el ámbito jurídico y no estrictamente sociológico o antropológico.
