Book Yldrbac the Latter Years Ii

Download or read book Yldrbac the Latter Years Ii written by R. Keith Andrews and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 1901 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over at the weapons-check, Blade noticed a small disturbance between the reserve combat vet and the attendant. Knowing how these things tended to turn out, he brought the incident to the attention of the rest of the party at his table. “I’ll give you one more chance to bring MY box!” demanded the reserve combat vet, clearly reaching the end of his rope. “And what are you going to do about it...JACK?” mocked the attendant with a sneer. This exchange caught the attention of everyone in the room and prompted Jack’s companions to collect their gear and head for the exit. “We might want to be prepared to move, folks...” observed Jeremiah, picking up his heavily blood-spattered Duster and slipping it on over his well-toned, 5’8” body. Following Jeremiah’s lead, the rest of the Wolf Pack and company rapidly packed up their gear, whilst grabbing a final mouthful of their drinks. Seated at a table around the corner from the weapons-check, Terrence asked, “Valentine...you know these guys...should we be worried?” “We should certainly be ready, just in case,” Valentine replied. Without thinking, the young, stocky Lestor stood up and moved closer to the weapons-check to get a better look.

Book Complete Works of Elizabeth von Arnim Vol 1 12 Books Illustrated

Download or read book Complete Works of Elizabeth von Arnim Vol 1 12 Books Illustrated written by Elizabeth von Arnim and published by Andrii Ponomarenko. This book was released on 2024-10-15 with total page 2781 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Elizabeth von Arnim, born Mary Annette Beauchamp, was an English novelist. Born in Australia, she married a German aristocrat, and her earliest works are set in Germany. Arnim launched her career as a writer with her satirical and semi-autobiographical Elizabeth and Her German Garden. Published anonymously, it chronicled the protagonist Elizabeth's struggles to create a garden on the family estate and her attempts to integrate into German aristocratic Junker society. In it, she fictionalized her husband as “The Man of Wrath”. It was reprinted twenty times by May 1899, a year after its publication. A bitter-sweet memoir and companion to it was The Solitary Summer. Other works, such as The Benefactress The Adventures of Elizabeth on Rügen Vera and Love were also semi-autobiographical. Some titles ensued that deal with protest against domineering Junkertum and witty observations of life in provincial Germany, including The Princess Priscilla's Fortnight and Fräulein Schmidt and Mr Anstruther. She would sign her twenty or so books, after the first, initially as “by the author of Elizabeth and Her German Garden” and later simply as “By Elizabeth”. In 1909, The Princess Priscilla's Fortnight was turned into a play called The Cottage in the Air, and in 1929 into the film The Runaway Princess, directed by Anthony Asquith and starring Mady Christians. Although Arnim never wrote a conventional autobiography, All the Dogs of My Life, an account of her love for her pets, contains many glimpses of her glittering social circle. Contents: 1. Elizabeth and Her German Garden (1898) 2. The Solitary Summer (1899) 3. The April Baby's Book of Tunes (1900) (Illustrated by Kate Greenaway) 4. The Benefactress (1901) 5. Book My Story My Journey

Download or read book My Story My Journey written by Paul Lippok and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-10-13 with total page 559 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was born in 1926 in a town in Silesia, Germanys south eastern Province bordering Poland to the east and Czechoslovakia to the south. That is how it was for 2000 years until 1945 when Hitlers war ended, and our Heimat Schlesien no longer existed. The peace treaty demanded that Silesia be annexed to Poland meaning the eviction of our people. Six months after my 17th birthday, shortly before Christmas 1943, I was called up to military service and after my training sent to Italy, where five months later, on Sunday 4th June 1944 I was captured by the U.S. Army just outside Rome. They brought us to Norfolk Virginia from where a train journey took us to a POW camp in Oklahoma, moving soon to Fort Bliss, El Paso. In autumn 1945 fifty POWs travelled by bus to the Napa Valley to pick tomatoes, prunes, and work in the vineyards, and after New Year 1946 south to pick cotton. In early March 1946 we received black-dyed U.S. Army uniforms, boarded a troop ship in Oakland and were sent back to Europe via the Panama Canal, to arrive three weeks later in Liverpool, UK. From there we travelled by train to the north of Scotland where now over sixty years later, I continue to live. My book will tell my journey.
