Download or read book Joy Comes in the Morning written by Yvonne Retief and published by Struik Christian Media. This book was released on 2011-06-28 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Molestation almost invariably takes place in secret, and most victims never speak to anyone about it. The pain is with them for life, and their functioning as human beings is usually negatively affected to some extent. There are those who would like to consult a therapist but for whom this is impossible due to the unavailability of a suitable person. Then there are those whose pain is so intense that they don’t have the courage to face it. The purpose of this book is to give such people the courage to do something about this matter, so that they may once again experience the ‘joy that comes in the morning’. This book is written in the form of a number of letters to an imaginary woman who, as a young girl, was molested by her grandfather. She lives in a small town and has no access to a suitable therapist. She and her therapist (the author) agree to undertake therapy by correspondence. In the last ten letters the sexual healing is discussed. Joy Comes in the Morning introduces the reader to a specific technique developed with great success by the author over a number of years. The book is thus also aimed at therapists who wish to develop their skills in this field.
Download or read book Forgiving Others and Trusting God a Handbook for Survivors of Child Abuse Experience Healing for Deep Wounds That Hinder Your Relationship with written by J. E. Norris-Bernal and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011-02 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why yet another book about forgiveness? Abundant literature, written from Christian and other spiritual perspectives, is available specifying why forgiving those who offend us results in such improved physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual health. What makes this book unique, however, is that it deals strictly with survivors of child abuse and the profound ways that they are affected for life without some type of intervention. Learning to forgive, healing from abuse, and trusting/finding intimacy with Father God are three processes that are difficult, if not impossible, for most survivors of child abuse to experience. The power inherent in forgiveness contributes enormously to healing for deep wounds and the realization of true intimacy with the One we are privileged to call Abba, Father. Many survivors' highly personal, deeply sensitive, and incredibly dramatic accounts of abuse suffered, their choices to forgive, their experiences of deep healing, and ultimately the fulfillment of lifelong desires for closeness with God are documented in Forgiving Others and Trusting God . . . Handbook for Survivors of Child Abuse. You will find these accounts both inspirational and unforgettable! Even if you never were victimized as a child, you will gain plenty of hands-on, practical tools to assist in your own journey from overcoming any emotional or spiritual obstacles and hindrances to forgiving others and trusting God. J. E. Norris-Bernal, M.S., was a Marriage and Family Therapist for over 20 years and an active member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. Ms. Norris-Bernal is currently a college professor teaching English and Psychology courses. She is also a Christian life coach for local and long-distance clientele. Prior to her work as a mental health professional, Ms. Norris-Bernal was a professional editor for 10 years. She resides in Arizona with her husband, and they have three adult children living in Southern California.

Download or read book The Ballads and Songs of Yorkshire written by C. J. Davison Ingledew and published by BELL AND DALDY. This book was released on 2015-03-04 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: he present work is a selection from the Ballads and Songs of my native county, and I trust the publication may not be deemed an unacceptable offering. In a polished age like the present, I am sensible that many of the productions of our county bards will require great allowances to be made for them. Yet have they, for the most part, a pleasing simplicity, and artless grace, which, in the opinion of such writers as Addison, Dryden, Percy, and others, have been thought to compensate for the want of higher beauties; and, in the words of the latter, "If they do not dazzle the imagination, they are frequently found to interest the heart." Wherever I have had an opportunity, I have collated my copies with the earliest editions, retaining in the notes, in many places, the different readings, the text in modern editions being materially changed and frequently deteriorated. I have omitted pieces from the pens of Scott, Wordsworth, Rogers, and other modern writers, whose works may be assumed to be in the reader's possession. Another class, the last dying confessions of criminals, &c., have been, with few exceptions, left out, as more appropriate for a separate volume. I trust, however, in what is retained will be found every variety:— "From grave to gay, from lively to severe." And should the reader receive one half the pleasure in perusing the contents, that has been afforded in collecting, I shall be perfectly satisfied. In the notes prefixed to the Ballads and Songs, I have acknowledged my obligations to the friends who have so kindly assisted me, but cannot allow this opportunity to pass without again expressing my sincere thanks to Edward Hailstone, esq., F.S.A., Charles Jackson, esq., and others who have manifested so great an interest in the work.
