Download or read book Improving Deadbeat direct Torque and Flux Control and Self sensing in Induction Machines Over a Wide Range of Operating Conditions written by Yang Xu and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this research is to develop methodologies for systematic improvements of deadbeat-direct torque and flux control (DB-DTFC) and self-sensing for induction machines (IM) over a wide operating range, including very low speeds and very high speeds. The investigation includes the implementation method for DB-DTFC with reduced computational time, extended low-speed self-sensing with volt-second sensing, extended high-speed operation of DB-DTFC in the flux weakening region with encoder feedback and self-sensing, more accurate torque estimation and torque control with DB-DTFC at low sampling-to-fundamental (S2F) frequency ratios, loss minimization with DB-DTFC over a wide operating range, and loss maximization with DB-DTFC for faster braking. This dissertation focuses on the practical issues of DB-DTFC and lays a foundation for integrating DB-DTFC into a commercial IM drive. Analytical studies and experimental investigations show significant improvements at both low speeds and high speeds of the developed methods compared with the existing control methods.

The book combines theoretical analysis, simulation, and experimental concepts. To make the content as accessible as possible, the book employs a clear proposal in each chapter, moving from the background, to numerical development, and finally to case studies and illustrations. The book is a wide-ranging reference source for graduate students, researchers, and professors from related fields and it will benefit practicing engineers and experts from the industry.

Book Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

Download or read book Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors written by Sadegh Vaez-Zadeh and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-02-23 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Permanent magnet synchronous (PMS) motors stand at the forefront of electric motor development due to their energy saving capabilities and performance potential. The motors have been developed in response to mounting environmental crises and growing electricity prices, and they have enabled the emergence of motor drive applications like those found in electric and hybrid vehicles, fly by wire, and drones. Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors is a timely advancement along that path as the first comprehensive, self-contained, and thoroughly up-to-date book devoted solely to the control of PMS motors. It offers a deep and extended analysis, design, implementation, and performance evaluation of major motor control methods, including Vector, Direct Torque, Predictive, Deadbeat, and Combined Control, in a systematic and coherent manner. All major Sensorless Control and Parameter Estimation methods are also studied. The book places great emphasis on energy saving control schemes.

Book Deadbeat direct Torque and Flux Control Drives for High Power Applications Using Low Switching Frequency Multi level Inverters

Download or read book Deadbeat direct Torque and Flux Control Drives for High Power Applications Using Low Switching Frequency Multi level Inverters written by Yukai Wang and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A deadbeat-direct torque and flux control (DB-DTFC) drive has been a promising alternative to a field oriented control (FOC) drive for general applications. This research investigates DB-DTFC drives on low switching frequency, multi-level inverter fed, high power induction machines. The investigation explores the opportunity to integrate DB-DTFC in high power applications via the following four aspects: proper modeling of cross-coupling effect at low switching and/or high fundamental frequency, torque/flux dynamics and estimation accuracy regarding Volt-sec. error and parameter mismatch, position/speed self-sensing and flux linkage-based loss manipulation. A standard indirect FOC drive is used as the benchmark to evaluate DB-DTFC performance at very low switching frequencies. This research further investigates scaling properties to apply DB-DTFC from kilowatt to several megawatt power level applications. This dissertation lays a foundation of integrating DB-DTFC into medium voltage high power drives. A methodology is contributed that maximizes the synergies of motor terminal Volt-sec. sensing, real-time parameter identification, back-EMF-based self-sensing and flux-based loss manipulation in the low switching frequency, multi-level inverter fed, DB-DTFC drives.

Download or read book Induction Motors written by Raúl Gregor and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2015-11-18 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: AC motors play a major role in modern industrial applications. Squirrel-cage induction motors (SCIMs) are probably the most frequently used when compared to other AC motors because of their low cost, ruggedness, and low maintenance. The material presented in this book is organized into four sections, covering the applications and structural properties of induction motors (IMs), fault detection and diagnostics, control strategies, and the more recently developed topology based on the multiphase (more than three phases) induction motors. This material should be of specific interest to engineers and researchers who are engaged in the modeling, design, and implementation of control algorithms applied to induction motors and, more generally, to readers broadly interested in nonlinear control, health condition monitoring, and fault diagnosis.

Book Direct Torque Control of an Induction Machine Using Multi layer Preception Neural Network

Download or read book Direct Torque Control of an Induction Machine Using Multi layer Preception Neural Network written by Adithya Chandrashekharan and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In conventional direct torque control scheme of induction motor, Proportional Integral Controller is used as the speed controller. PI controller is more suitable in steady state condition and for linear system but both DTC and IM are mostly nonlinear. Multi-Layer perception neural network controller is more suitable and performs better than PI controller. The switching table of the conventional DTC is replaced by the MLPNN controller. The MLPNN inputs are the magnitude of the stator flux, torque and the voltage sectors. Levenberg-Marquardt back propagation technique has been used to train the MLPNN. The output of the MLPNN are the gate signals to the inverter, which switch to produce the required voltage vectors. The Hysteresis band for torque is 1 per cent and the hysteresis band for the flux is 0.5 per cent. The advantage of using MLPNN is that, in classical DTC look up table is used to select switching states, thus size requirement will increase with some advanced control. MLPNN will take less memory and is more reliable. Despite the fact that the proposed scheme does not eliminate the torque, flux and current ripples to a great extent, the dropping of the stator flux due to the sector changes is eliminated. Also a faster stator flux and Torque response is achieved in the transient state.
