Er stellt Einzelfunde und Analysen vor, die teilweise liebgewordene Forschungsmeinungen in Frage stellen. Auch methodische Beitrage z. B. zur Besonderheit historischer Texte fur die Informatik, und aus der Beschaftigung mit den Quellen abgeleitete Studien zur Geschichte der Ottonen und der Staufer zeigen die Bandbreite aktueller Forschungen aus dem Bereich der Geschichtlichen Hilfswissenschaften. Die wissenschaftshistorische Reflexion weiterer Beitrage erganzt den Sammelband, der aus vielen einzelnen Steinen ein schillerndes Mosaik aktueller hilfswissenschaftlicher Forschung macht.
