Download or read book DC Magnetron Sputtered Pure and Al Doped Cu2O Thin Films written by Sivasankar Reddy Akepati and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-11-04 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transparent conducting metal oxide thin films received the attention of many researchers for application in transparent electronics such as heterojunction solar cells, gas sensors, electrochromic devices, optoelectronic devices etc. Cuprous oxide (Cu2O) and copper aluminum oxide (CuAlO2) are transparent oxides exhibiting p-type conductivity. The properties of these materials in thin film mainly depend on the method of preparation and deposition conditions maintained during film growth. This book restrains the optimized deposition conditions of Cu2O and CuAlO2 films deposited on glass substrates using dc reactive magnetron sputtering technique, and investigated their structural, composition, microstructure, surface morphology, optical and electrical properties. The promising approach to prepare device quality films for optoelectronic devices was discussed clearly in this book

Because of the increasing interest in electrically and electronically active materials, the search for materials and the techniques for producing semi-transparent electrically conducting films have gained much importance. In an intrinsic stoichiometric material, it is not possible to have simultaneously high transparency (>80%%) in the visible region and high electrical conductivity (>103 Ω cm-1). A variety of metals in thin film form (

Book Microstructural Comparisons of Ultra Thin Cu Films Deposited by Ion Beam and Dc Magnetron Sputtering

Download or read book Microstructural Comparisons of Ultra Thin Cu Films Deposited by Ion Beam and Dc Magnetron Sputtering written by W. Prater and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report and contrast both the electrical resistance and the microstructure of copper thin films deposited in an oxygen containing atmosphere by ion-beam and dc-magnetron sputtering. For films with thicknesses 5 nm or less, the resistivity of the Cu films is minimized at oxygen concentrations ranging from 0.2% to 1% for dc-magnetron sputtering and 6% to 10% for ion beam sputtering. Films sputtered under both conditions show a similar decrease of interface roughness with increasing oxygen concentration, although the magnetron deposited films are smoother. The dc-magnetron produced films have higher resistivity, have smaller Cu grains, and contain a higher concentration of cuprous oxide particles. We discuss the mechanisms leading to the grain refinement and the consequent reduced resistivity in both types of films.

Book Introduction to Thin Film Transistors

Download or read book Introduction to Thin Film Transistors written by S.D. Brotherton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-16 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Thin Film Transistors reviews the operation, application and technology of the main classes of thin film transistor (TFT) of current interest for large area electronics. The TFT materials covered include hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H), poly-crystalline silicon (poly-Si), transparent amorphous oxide semiconductors (AOS), and organic semiconductors. The large scale manufacturing of a-Si:H TFTs forms the basis of the active matrix flat panel display industry. Poly-Si TFTs facilitate the integration of electronic circuits into portable active matrix liquid crystal displays, and are increasingly used in active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) displays for smart phones. The recently developed AOS TFTs are seen as an alternative option to poly-Si and a-Si:H for AMOLED TV and large AMLCD TV applications, respectively. The organic TFTs are regarded as a cost effective route into flexible electronics. As well as treating the highly divergent preparation and properties of these materials, the physics of the devices fabricated from them is also covered, with emphasis on performance features such as carrier mobility limitations, leakage currents and instability mechanisms. The thin film transistors implemented with these materials are the conventional, insulated gate field effect transistors, and a further chapter describes a new thin film transistor structure: the source gated transistor, SGT. The driving force behind much of the development of TFTs has been their application to AMLCDs, and there is a chapter dealing with the operation of these displays, as well as of AMOLED and electrophoretic displays. A discussion of TFT and pixel layout issues is also included. For students and new-comers to the field, introductory chapters deal with basic semiconductor surface physics, and with classical MOSFET operation. These topics are handled analytically, so that the underlying device physics is clearly revealed. These treatments are then used as a reference point, from which the impact of additional band-gap states on TFT behaviour can be readily appreciated. This reference book, covering all the major TFT technologies, will be of interest to a wide range of scientists and engineers in the large area electronics industry. It will also be a broad introduction for research students and other scientists entering the field, as well as providing an accessible and comprehensive overview for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes.
