Book Data Abstraction and Problem Solving with C

Download or read book Data Abstraction and Problem Solving with C written by Frank M. Carrano and published by Addison Wesley. This book was released on 1998 with total page 858 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Focusing on data abstraction and data structures, the second edition of this very successful book continues to emphasize the needs of both the instructor and the student. The book illustrates the role of classes and abstract data types (ADTs) in the problem-solving process as the foundation for an object-oriented approach. Throughout the next, the distinction between specification and implementation is continually stressed. The text covers major applications of ADTs, such as searching a flight map and performing an event-driven simulation. It also offers early, extensive coverage of recursion and uses this technique in many examples and exercises. Overall, the lucid writing style, widespread use of examples, and flexible coverage of material have helped make this a leading book in the field." --Book Jacket.

Book Object Orientation Abstraction and Data Structures Using Scala

Download or read book Object Orientation Abstraction and Data Structures Using Scala written by Mark C. Lewis and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-01-06 with total page 662 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Praise for the first edition: "The well-written, comprehensive book...[is] aiming to become a de facto reference for the language and its features and capabilities. The pace is appropriate for beginners; programming concepts are introduced progressively through a range of examples and then used as tools for building applications in various domains, including sophisticated data structures and algorithms...Highly recommended. Students of all levels, faculty, and professionals/practitioners. —D. Papamichail, University of Miami in CHOICE Magazine Mark Lewis’ Introduction to the Art of Programming Using Scala was the first textbook to use Scala for introductory CS courses. Fully revised and expanded, the new edition of this popular text has been divided into two books. Object-Orientation, Abstraction, and Data Structures Using Scala, Second Edition is intended to be used as a textbook for a second or third semester course in Computer Science. The Scala programming language provides powerful constructs for expressing both object orientation and abstraction. This book provides students with these tools of object orientation to help them structure solutions to larger, more complex problems, and to expand on their knowledge of abstraction so that they can make their code more powerful and flexible. The book also illustrates key concepts through the creation of data structures, showing how data structures can be written, and the strengths and weaknesses of each one. Libraries that provide the functionality needed to do real programming are also explored in the text, including GUIs, multithreading, and networking. The book is filled with end-of-chapter projects and exercises, and the authors have also posted a number of different supplements on the book website. Video lectures for each chapter in the book are also available on YouTube. The videos show construction of code from the ground up and this type of "live coding" is invaluable for learning to program, as it allows students into the mind of a more experienced programmer, where they can see the thought processes associated with the development of the code. About the Authors Mark Lewis is an Associate Professor at Trinity University. He teaches a number of different courses, spanning from first semester introductory courses to advanced seminars. His research interests included simulations and modeling, programming languages, and numerical modeling of rings around planets with nearby moons. Lisa Lacher is an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston, Clear Lake with over 25 years of professional software development experience. Her research interests include Computer Science Education, Agile Software Development, Human Computer Interaction and Usability Engineering, as well as Measurement and Empirical Software Engineering.

Book Data Structures and Algorithms Using Python and C

Download or read book Data Structures and Algorithms Using Python and C written by David M. Reed and published by Franklin Beedle & Associates. This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended for use in a traditional college- level data structures course (commonly known as CS2). This book assumes that students have learned the basic syntax of Python and been exposed to the use of existing classes. Most traditional CS1 courses that use Python will have covered all the necessary topics, and some may have covered a few of the topics covered in this book. We have found that most students successfully completing a CS1 course know how to use classes, but many of them need more experience to learn how to design and write their own classes. We address this issue by including a number of examples of class design in the first few chapters of this book.

Book Data Abstraction Problem Solving with C

Download or read book Data Abstraction Problem Solving with C written by Frank M. Carrano and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For courses in C++ Data Structures Concepts of Data Structures and Abstraction for C++ Programmers The 7th Edition of Data Abstraction & Problem Solving with C++: Walls and Mirrors introduces fundamental computer science concepts related to the study of data structures. The text explores problem solving and the efficient access and manipulation of data and is intended for students who already have a basic understanding of programming, preferably in C++. The "walls and mirrors" mentioned in the title represent problem-solving techniques that appear throughout the text. Data abstraction hides the details of a module from the rest of the program, whereas recursion is a repetitive technique that solves a problem by solving smaller versions of the same problems, much as images in facing mirrors grow smaller with each reflection. Along with general changes to improve clarity and correctness, this edition features new notes, programming tips, examples, and programming problems, as well as C++11 and C++14 features-including safe memory management using smart pointers-and safe and secure coding techniques.

Book Programming Methodology

  • ISBN : 1461263158
  • Pages : 450 pages

Download or read book Programming Methodology written by David Gries and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is being published for two reasons. The first is to present a collection of previously published articles on the subject of programming methodology that have helped define the field and give it direction. It is hoped that the scientist in the field will find the volume useful as a reference, while the scientist in neighboring fields will find it useful in seriously acquainting himself with important ideas in programming methodology. The advanced student can also study it-either in a course or by himself -in order to learn significant material that may not appear in texts for some time. The second reason for this volume is to make public the nature and work on programming methodology of IFIP Working Group 2.3, hereafter called WG2.3. (IFIP stands for International Federation for Information Processing.) WG2.3 is one of many IFIP Working Groups that have been established to provide international forums for discussion of ideas in various areas. Generally, these groups publish proceedings of some of their meetings and occasionally they sponsor a larger conference that persons outside a group can attend. WG2.3 has been something of a maverick in this respect. From the beginning the group has shunned paperwork, reports, meetings, and the like. This has meant less pUblicity for IFIP and WG2.3, but on the other hand it has meant that meetings could be devoted almost wholly to scientific discussions.
