Book Dancing Toward Sanity

Download or read book Dancing Toward Sanity written by Jeff Slayton and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jeff Slayton is a survivor of child abuse by both parents. This abuse was emotional, physical, and sexual in nature. He was raised in the Southern Baptist Church during a time when whatever went on within a family¿s home was not spoken about to anyone outside of the home. There were not the sources of help for abused kids like there are today. So in order to deal with his pain, Jeff turned to alcohol. His life and his sanity were also saved through dancing. While performing, he pretended to be anyone else but himself. In his late fifties, Jeff¿s world came crashing down around him emotionally. With help at age fifty-seven he got sober and has remained so for ten years. This book details Jeff¿s career and how it and the people around him helped him survive. It is also his attempt to give hope to others who have had or who are still going through the kinds of abuse that he suffered. He wants this book to show them they are not victims. What happened to them is not their fault, and there is hope for them to have a long and fruitful life.

There’s no way Cate’s going to risk her heart again, if only the Meg Effect didn’t leave her wanting more. Meg Mullins wants a relationship with Cate, but things are complicated. As Meg the unMuzzled, she writes a popular anonymous blog, processing her true feelings. Cate and Meg are so good for each other, but a second chance at love means untangling their pasts, learning to trust, and daring to let go of who they thought they were to discover who they’re meant to be together.

Book Hard Times Require Furious Dancing

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "I was born to grow, / alongside my garden of plants, / poems / like / this one“ So writes Alice Walker in this new book of poems, poems composed over the course of one year in response to joy and sorrow both personal and global: the death of loved ones, war, the deliciousness of love, environmental devastation, the sorrow of rejection, greed, poverty, and the sweetness of home. The poems embrace our connections while celebrating the joy of individuality, the power we each share to express our truest, deepest selves. Beloved for her ability to speak her own truth in ways that speak for and about countless others, she demonstrates that we are stronger than our circumstances. As she confronts personal and collective challenges, her words dance, sing, and heal.

Book excerpt: Fans of Louise Penny will love the Emily Kincaid mysteries by Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli! “Every woman who’s ever struggled with saying no, fitting in, and balancing independence against loneliness will adore first-timer Emily.” —Kirkus Reviews Following an ugly divorce and the death of her father, Emily Kincaid decides what she needs most is peace and quiet and time to think, so the part-time journalist and full-time struggling mystery writer relocates to a remote house in the woods of northern Michigan. When a severed head shows up in her garbage can, Emily knows she’s been singled out, and suddenly her peaceful solitude feels a lot like isolation and vulnerability. Discovering that the victim was a member of the Women of the Moon, a group of older local ladies who sing and dance around a bonfire in the woods late at night, Emily’s at a loss to know why anyone would want to hurt one of them. The women claim it’s a harmless act in praise of Mother Earth, a way to feel young again, but certain townspeople don’t see it that way. As Emily digs deeper, more of the women are turning up dead. Knowing she’ll have to root out a killer to save her peaceful paradise, Emily teams up with the cantankerous Deputy Dolly and begins navigating between eccentric town gossips and reclusive neighbors who would rather be left alone. When the killer gets too close for comfort, Emily knows she’ll have to put aside her fears before the natural life she’s chosen comes to a grisly and very unnatural end. Book Who Do We Choose To Be

Download or read book Who Do We Choose To Be written by Margaret J. Wheatley and published by Berrett-Koehler Publishers. This book was released on 2017-06-19 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the twenty-fifth anniversary of the publication of her classic Leadership and the New Science, bestselling author Margaret Wheatley once again turns to the new science of living systems to help leaders persevere in a time of great turmoil. I know it is possible for leaders to use their power and influence, their insight and compassion, to lead people back to an understanding of who we are as human beings, to create the conditions for our basic human qualities of generosity, contribution, community and love to be evoked no matter what. I know it is possible to experience grace and joy in the midst of tragedy and loss. I know it is possible to create islands of sanity in the midst of wildly disruptive seas. I know it is possible because I have worked with leaders over many years in places that knew chaos and breakdown long before this moment. And I have studied enough history to know that such leaders always arise when they are most needed. Now it's our turn.

Book excerpt: The Divine Dance has become a classic for fans of Richard Rohr and an important book on Christian mysticism, it provides a fresh perspective for anyone studying or teaching the trinity. The Trinity is the central doctrine of Christianity, but it is still widely considered a mystery we won't ever fully understand. Should we still try to understand it, even so? If we could, how would it transform our relationship with God? In this stimulating and thought-provoking book, internationally recognised teacher Richard Rohr explores the nature of God and the paradoxical idea of the Holy Trinity as both three and one. With clear, surefooted wisdom, he encourages us to build on the early Christian understanding of the relationship between Father, Son and Spirit as a flow and dance - a Divine Dance - that we are invited to join in. An engaging, accessible look at the nature of God, The Divine Dance will challenge the way you think about the Trinity and give you a much fuller understanding of the triune relationship that is at the heart of Christian doctrine. It will leave you with a faith that is renewed and strengthened, and show you how you can engage more deeply in your relationship with God and the world through the Trinity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IT OCCURRED TO ME (A Guide to a Happy Self) is an easy read and an easy guide to alter your attitudes about your place in this world. The point is made in different (sometimes amusing, sometimes touching, and sometimes tough) ways that we all have a place in this universe and we are at that right place - right now. Through the journey of these essays, you can find simple solutions to everyday misconceptions and challenges. We all have had some flawed concepts presented to us about ourselves and about our impact on others. Here's a sort of Treasure Map out of depression and self-doubt. The author shares some very personal stories about how her map got smeared, folded and mutilated, and then, how she has been able to straighten out the wrinkles and decipher her path. The next step or turn is continually revealed, so long as one is ready and willing to take it. The thoughts and ideas expressed in these essays can help anyone out of their self-esteem deficit. Because they are simply stated, they are profound in their universal benefits. Try to look for similarities in your own heart, in your own experiences. Have you felt the same way the author has felt about these issues? Can you see a way out? Keep reading and thinking and feeling. Open your mind to change. At the conclusion of the book, there is a Certificate of Sufficiency (suitable for framing!) Write your name on it and keep it where you can see it. You are ENOUGH, right where you are just because you are.
