Book Dallas Fort Worth Simulation Phase 2 Triple Simultaneous Parallel ILS Approaches Turbojets

Download or read book Dallas Fort Worth Simulation Phase 2 Triple Simultaneous Parallel ILS Approaches Turbojets written by CTA INC MCKEE CITY NJ. and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A dynamic, real-time simulation was conducted to evaluate triple simultaneous independent parallel approach operations for the Dallas/Fort Worth (D/FW) Airport. The simulation was part of an ongoing effort to evaluate plans for increasing air traffic capacity in the D/FW area and to evaluate multiple parallel approaches in general. An additional parallel runway (16L), with centerline 5,000 ft east of the existing 17L runway, was simulated in a triple simultaneous parallel operation conducted under Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC). The results of the study indicated that controllers were able to maintain miss distances, between blundering aircraft and nonblundering aircraft, in the proposed D/FW triple simultaneous parallel Instrument Landing System (ILS) approach operation, that were statistically equivalent to the miss distances maintained in the approved dual approach condition. None of the blunders in the triple or dual approach conditions resulted in a slant range miss distance of less than 1,000 ft. Finally, controllers, controller observers and ATC management observers concluded that the triple simultaneous ILS approach operation at D/FW is acceptable, achievable, and safe. (jhd).

Book Dallas Ft Worth Regional Airport Simulation Study

Download or read book Dallas Ft Worth Regional Airport Simulation Study written by Robert C. Conway and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulation studies of a plan developed for the control of air traffic when a proposed Regional Airport is operational were conducted. The simulation was conducted using the Model A and Model B Dynamic Air Traffic Control Simulators. Six different combinations of runway usage were tested in evaluating the plan. It was concluded that the plan as modified was capable of accommodating the 1980 traffic during a north or south traffic flow. However, during a northwest or southeast traffic flow this capability did not exist. It was also concluded that the location and associated runway alignment of the proposed Regional Airport and the proposed VORTACs were compatible to the overall terminal area IFR traffic flow. It was recommended that consideration be given to using the modified plan for the control of air traffic when the proposed Regional Airport is operational. (Author).
