However, his reception in Czechoslovakia, launched by the Liblice conference in 1963, has been conflicted. While rescuing Kafka from years of censorship and neglect, Czech critics of the 1960s “overwrote” his German and Jewish literary and cultural contexts in order to focus on his Czech cultural connections. Seeking to rediscover Kafka’s multiple backgrounds, in Franz Kafka and His Prague Contexts Marek Nekula focuses on Kafka’s Jewish social and literary networks in Prague, his German and Czech bilingualism, and his knowledge of Yiddish and Hebrew. Despite an emerging number of consumers claiming their preference towards green brands compared to traditional alternatives, researchers have found that there is a huge gap between consumers’ purchase intention and actual behavior, which has gained much attention. The psychological process of green purchase behavior may be a complicated process influenced by various factors, such as consumer values and norms, the pros and cons marketed for green products, and various other situational factors. Scholars are calling for research that explores the psychological decision-making process of green purchase behavior from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Due to the high pricing of green products, the trade-off between the price and function of green products may lower consumers’ satisfaction. Thus, there is always a gap between green purchase intention and actual purchase behavior. What determines consumers’ actual green purchase behavior? Under what conditions, will the consumers pay a premium price for green products? What prompts consumers to choose green brands over traditional alternatives? Will green consumption be a passing trend or a long-term consumption habit? What influences the frequency of consumers’ green purchasing? Scholars are welcome to share their opinions and findings about green purchase behavior to help explore this research topic. Book excerpt: The legal system of the present-day Czech Republic would not be understood properly without sufficient knowledge of its historical roots and evolution. This book deals with the development of Czech law from its initial origins as a form of Slavic law to its current position, reflecting the influence of the legal systems of neighbouring countries and that of Roman law. The reader can see how a legal system originally based on custom developed into written and codified law. Czech law was fully dependent upon developments within the Luxemburg, Jagiellonian and, primarily, Habsburg monarchies, although some features remained autonomous. The 20th century is particularly important in the development of the Czech state and law of today, namely due to the establishment of an independent Czechoslovakia in 1918 and its split in 1992 giving rise to the independent identities of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. It was a century encompassing periods of democratic as well as totalitarian regimes; political, ideological, economic and social changes stemming from such transformations were projected into, and reflected in, the system of Czechoslovak and Czech law. It can therefore serve as a “case study” for researchers interested in the transition of democratic legal systems into totalitarian regimes, and vice versa.
