Download or read book Trigger Point Self Care Manual written by Donna Finando and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2005-11-08 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A guide to the treatment of pain from common sports injuries and other physical activities • Contains at-home techniques to promote healing and self-awareness of the body’s musculature • Explains how to relieve pain using manual massage in conjunction with small physio balls • Includes an illustrated treatment reference section organized by region of the body The vast majority of physical injuries incurred by active people begin with muscular injuries that are not addressed by the conventional medical approach to orthopedic care. Injuries of this type are generally too minor to warrant splinting, casting, or medication and often do not prevent participation in physical activities. They do, however, produce noticeable discomfort and, over time, frequently lead to more severe injuries. In Trigger Point Self-Care Manual Donna Finando presents methods for the healing and prevention of musculature injuries. She identifies the causes of and remedies for areas of muscular tightness and restriction and details many self-care techniques, including precise self-massage, stretching, and the use of wet heat and/or ice. In the fully illustrated reference section, organized by body part, she identifies the pain associated with trigger points in each muscle of the body and provides instructions for palpating, treating, and stretching the muscle in order to release it.

Download or read book Reflexology written by Paula Thayer and published by . This book was released on 2016-09-14 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW Second Edition, Published September 14, 2016If you're interested in learning all about reflexology, including how to self-perform reflexology and practice it on others, then this book is for you! Although reflexology therapy has for a long time been viewed with skepticism, just like many other alternative healing therapies, it does actually work - and this book will explain exactly how it does and why it's so effective. Today, we can say that reflexology is ideal for not only curing pain (which is a primary symptom showing something is amiss in your body) but also the root cause of the pain. It is little wonder then that reflexology therapy has become very popular as a form of holistic healing, unlike pharmaceutical drugs that mostly address only the symptoms. High stress, chronic fatigue, back pain, and fibromyalgia are only a few examples of unwelcome conditions that can easily be alleviated through the practice of reflexology. Not to mention that reflexology is a great form of disorder prevention too! This book will teach you all about the practice of reflexology, including how to self-perform reflexology and practice it on others. A complete hand chart map and foot chart map are provided within the book for your reference as well.

Download or read book Rabinal Achi written by Alain Breton and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Rabinal Achi, one of the most remarkable works of Mayan literature, dates back to the 1400s. The drama is set in the Guatemalan highlands in the second half of the fifteenth century. In an exemplary trial that takes place in Kajyub, the capital of the Rabinaleb at that time, a captured enemy warrior (Quiché Achi) appears before the royal court. A series of combative dialogues pits the offending warrior against the local warrior (Rabinal Achi) and the king (Job Toj), reconstructing the deeds of those involved and retracing the antagonistic history of these two Mayan groups, the Quiché and the Rabinaleb. Alain Breton approaches the text from an anthropological and ethnographical perspective, demonstrating that this indigenous text reenacts pre-Columbian historic paradigms. Breton translated into French an entirely new transcription of the original text, and Teresa Lavender Fagan and Robert Schneider translated the text into English. Both the transcription and the translation are accompanied by detailed commentary and a glossary.

Download or read book The 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva written by David Tuffley and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2011-03-25 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thirty-seven Practices of a Bodhisattva is an ancient text written in the 14th Century BCE by Tokme Zangpo, a Buddhist monk and scholar who was born in Puljung, south west of the Sakya Monastery in Tibet. Thirty-seven Practices seeks to make clear the day-to-day behavior of a Bodhisattva (an nlightened being on their way to attaining full Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings). It serves as a practical guide for those people seeking to travel the path of enlightenment. Though short in length, a person could spend a lifetime perfecting the practices. The work can be seen as a companion to Santideva's classic work the Bodhicaryavatara. While there are English translations of this text, they are a little difficult to understand for many readers living in the 21st Century. The mode of expression and the figures of speech are the product of that far-off time. This book faithfully re-expresses in modern day language the underlying message of the original text. Every effort has been made to preserve the underlying spirit of the message. This work respects the beauty of the original text, yet it brings the even greater beauty of the underlying message to a whole new audience in the modern world who might otherwise find the original text less than easy to fully understand. If you are embarking on the path to nlightenment, or just curious, this little book could be just the change agent you have been looking for. It is said to be one of the Dalai Lama's favorite texts.
Download or read book Entrepreneurs written by Bill Bolton and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2000 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We all know an entrepreneur when we see one. This ground-breaking book reviews more than a hundred entrepreneurs from all walks of life and backgrounds, and sets their stories within a rigorous analytical framework, in order to give a critical insight into: * What entrepreneurs do and achieve * How they go about it * How they could be better supported The key point though is whether there are more people "out there" with the potential to be successful entrepreneurs, and, if so, how they might be identified and fostered. This book opens up this subject using for the first time the themes of talent, temperament and technique, which, in the correct mix, produce outstanding entrepreneurs. Using the ideas presented, it should be possible to tap more effectively the well of entrepreneurial talent that the authors identify. The release of this entrepreneurial talent could transform the numerous programmes for promoting business start-up and growth. It is the missing ingredient in many of these initiatives. Entrepreneurs: Talent, Temperament, Technique is therefore ideal for both students and those with a non-academic background who have a keen interest in business start-up and growth. Case studies include: James Dyson, Charles Dunstone (CarPhone Warehouse), Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream, Brian Souter (Stagecoach), Archie Norman (Asda), Paul Sykes, Steve Jobs (Apple), Warren Buffet, David Rhodes (Filtronic), Ricardo Semler, Elliott Tepper (Betel), Julian Richer, Walt Disney, Cameron Mackintosh, Jeff Bezos (Amazon.com), Herb Kelleher (SouthWest Air), Bernie Ecclestone, Mark McCormack, John de Lorean, Mozart and Al Capone. Identifies the range of intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship segments Gives a framework to running successful entrepreneurship programmes or accessing your own capabilities Contains a readable introduction with valuable case studies for specialist entrepreneurship and SME courses
