Book Current Orthopaedic Practice

Download or read book Current Orthopaedic Practice written by Sanjeev Agarwal and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-30 with total page 654 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is intended as the second edition of previously published ‘Current Orthopaedic Practice’. The book is a unique publication from the UK, which covers the entire clinical orthopaedic spectrum. The FRCS exam is an end-of-training examination for Orthopaedic trainees in the UK. There is a paucity of textbooks published in the UK which cover the spectrum of knowledge required. The updated edition builds on the success of the first edition. This book is divided into 18 chapters, which cover the entire remit of clinical orthopaedics. The chapter on sports injuries has been split into two chapters - disorders of the hip and disorders of the knee. A unique feature which has been retained is the incorporation of annotated bibliography within the text. The list of references has been provided as 'further reading suggestions' at the end of the chapter. The annotated text within the chapter helps the reader to understand the study design and key message from the article. The articles selected for inclusion in the text are seminal articles, or recent articles which have led to change in practice. The line drawings are simple and easy to reproduce. Classifications are presented pictorially as much as possible, instead of tables, and this helps memorisation. This book is an essential resource for all orthopaedic graduates, trainees and professionals alike.

Book Current Orthopaedic Practice

Download or read book Current Orthopaedic Practice written by Sanjeev Agarwal, and published by tfm Publishing Limited. This book was released on 2012-10-01 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is intended as a concise overview of current orthopaedic practice. It will be of interest to orthopaedic surgeons in practice and to orthopaedic trainees - both specialist and basic surgical, in particular, orthopaedic specialist registrars in the UK preparing for the FRCS Orth. exam, or trainees in other countries at an equivalent stage of orthopaedic training. Medical students doing orthopaedic attachments will find it a practical reference tool. In addition, individuals involved in the care of orthopaedic patients, such as physiotherapists and nurse practitioners, will find the book useful. With increasing subspecialisation in orthopaedic surgery, it is more difficult for the specialist to keep abreast of recent changes and current trends in the management of orthopaedic conditions other than their own area of interest. This book aims to fill that void and will be an easily readable source with information that is concise and current. Emphasis is placed on the current literature and an effort has been made to provide evidence on controversial topics with annotated references incorporated into the text. These will be a useful resource for further reading. Any reader wishing to gain insight into 21st century orthopaedic surgery will find this book of interest and value.

This book was released on 2004-07-02 with total page 694 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Current clinical orthopedic practice requires practitioners to have extensive knowledge of a wide range of disciplines from molecular biology to bioengineering and from the application of new methods to the evaluation of outcome. The biomechanics of and biomaterials used in orthopedics have become increasingly important as the possibilities have increased to treat patients with foreign material introduced both as optimized osteosynthesis after trauma and as arthroplasties for joint diseases, sequelae of trauma or for tumor treatment. Furthermore, biomaterial substitutes are constantly being developed to replace missing tissue. Biomechanics and Biomaterials in Orthopedics provides an important update within this highly important field. Professor Dominique Poitout has collected a series of high-quality chapters by globally renowned researchers and clinicians. Under the auspices of the International Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SICOT) and International Society of Orthopaedic and Traumatology Research (SIROT), this book now provides permanent and specific access to the considerable international knowledge in the field of locomotor system trauma and disease treatment using the novel bioengineering solutions. This book covers both basic concepts concerning biomaterials and biomechanics as well as their clinical application and the experience from everyday practical use. This book will be of great value to specialists in orthopedics and traumatology, while also provide an important basis for graduate and postgraduate learning.
