Book Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction

Download or read book Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction written by Filippo Crea and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-08-15 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past two decades a number of studies have shown that abnormalities in the function and structure of coronary microcirculation can be detected in several cardiovascular diseases. On the basis of the clinical setting in which it occurs, coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) can be classified into four types: CMD in the absence of any other cardiac disease; CMD in myocardial diseases; CMD in obstructive epicardial coronary artery disease; and iatrogenic CMD. In some instances CMD represents an epiphenomenon, whereas in others it represents an important marker of risk or may contribute to the pathogenesis of myocardial ischemia, thus becoming a possible therapeutic target. This book provides an update on coronary physiology and a systematic assessment of microvascular abnormalities in cardiovascular diseases, in the hope that it will assist clinicians in prevention, detection and management of CMD in their everyday activity.

Book Basic and Clinical Understanding of Microcirculation

Download or read book Basic and Clinical Understanding of Microcirculation written by Kaneez Fatima Shad and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-07-22 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microcirculation is key to providing enough nutrition and oxygen from head to toe. This is possible only through an extensive network of blood vessels spread around the body. Effect of microcirculation abnormalities stretch beyond one’s comprehension. The effects could be felt at any age, from the foetal life to the adulthood. The chapters present in this book describe how these abnormalities could lead to diseases such as atherosclerosis, thrombosis, diabetes, hypertension. Disorders of microcirculation could be related to the structural and/or functional damage to the inner lining of the blood vessels. Early identification of these disorders could benefit many ailments including cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke.

Download or read book Corneal Angiogenesis written by Gordon K. Klintworth and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this research monograph, the noted scholar Dr. Gordon K. Klintworth brings together all the available information on the pathogenesis of corneal neovascularization. This book should be a valuable contribution to the medical literature of ophthalmology and clinical pathology. Despite its relatively simple structure the cornea possesses many unique properties. These attributes include its crystal clarity and avascularity in the health state. This normally transparent structure has been the focal point for Dr. Klintworth's research endeavors for more than two decades. This monograph summarizes current knowledge about angiogenesis within this tissue as well as information about the related issue of the cornea's normal avascularity. The text provides a comprehensive overview of the topic based on studies by a large number of investigators who were either concerned with corneal neovascularization in particular or angiogenesis in general.

Book Advances In Upper And Lower Extremity Microvascular Reconstructions

Download or read book Advances In Upper And Lower Extremity Microvascular Reconstructions written by S De Fontaine and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002-05-09 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances made in microsurgical techniques during the last three decades have dramatically improved the treatment of complex limb injuries, such as a closed fracture covered by healthy tissue and a complex open fracture of the tibia. Microvascular transfers from the foot have revolutionized the treatment of digital amputations, and vascularized bone transfers are used in various indications. The microvascular techniques are still evolving. Many imaginative new flaps are being proposed to meet precisely the functional requirements of the various defects. Alternative anastomotic techniques are being investigated and the no-flow phenomenon has been extensively studied. Allotransplantation may be feasible in the future. This unique book is a result of the exchange of ideas among clinicians of various specialties noted for their innovations and basic researchers involved with the problems of microvascular reconstruction of upper and lower extremities. While most of the chapters are invited contributions, some are based on presentations made during an international symposium held in Brussels, Belgium, in 1997.

Book Microcirculation in Cancer Metastasis

Download or read book Microcirculation in Cancer Metastasis written by F. William Orr and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1991-07-25 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although mechanisms involved in the spread of cancer have been the subject of a major research endeavor over the past decade, metastatic tumors still account for significant clinical morbidity and the failure of cancer treatment. Not only are the vascular pathways the most common route for the dissemination of cancer cells, but interactions between the cells and the circulation act as important rate-regulators for the metastatic process. This authoritative, multi-authored volume addresses the importance of microcirculation in cancer metastasis. The book begins with up-to-date reviews on the biology of endothelial cells and the structure and physiology of the normal and tumor microcirculations, and then emphasizes interactions between components of the microcirculation and cancer cells. Metastasis is discussed through chapters exploring the entry of cancer cells into the circulation, the biophysics and morphology of cancer cell traffic and arrest, interactions with host cells and the basement membranes, and angiogenesis. This fascinating book will interest oncologists, pathologists, and students of metastasis or the microcirculation.
