Download or read book European Symposium on Computer Aided Process Engineering 12 written by J. Grievink and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2002-04-29 with total page 1059 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains 182 papers presented at the 12th Symposium of Computer Aided Process Engineering (ESCAPE-12), held in The Hague, The Netherlands, May 26-29, 2002. The objective of ESCAPE-12 is to highlight advances made in the development and use of computing methodologies and information technology in the area of Computer Aided Process Engineering and Process Systems Engineering. The Symposium addressed six themes: (1) Integrated Product&Process Design; (2) Process Synthesis & Plant Design; (3) Process Dynamics & Control; (4) Manufacturing & Process Operations; (5) Computational Technologies; (6) Sustainable CAPE Education and Careers for Chemical Engineers. These themes cover the traditional core activities of CAPE, and also some wider conceptual perspectives, such as the increasing interplay between product and process design arising from the often complex internal structures of modern products; the integration of production chains creating the network structure of the process industry and optimization over life span dimensions, taking sustainability as the ultimate driver.

Book User s Guide for Concrete Strength Investigation and Design CSTR

Download or read book User s Guide for Concrete Strength Investigation and Design CSTR written by Clifton C. Hamby and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CSTR, called X0066 in the Conversationally Oriented Real-Time Program-Generating System (CORPS) library, is a general-purpose computer program for the strength theory analysis or design of reinforced concrete beams or columns, in accordance with ETL 1110-2-265 for hydraulic structures. It is intended to be an easy-to-use program. Program CSTR is versatile in that its capabilities extend from design of new concrete hydraulic structures to investigation of already existing designs. Its analysis is based on the rectangular stress block described in ETL 1110-2-265. The design procedure is computer-aided rather than automatic and computes the minimum reinforcement required for a given width and depth, and displays the resulting interaction diagram. The program also computes and prints the minimum effective depth of a given section which satisfies strength requirements and steel ratio requirements without compressive reinforcement. The investigation procedure shows interaction diagrams and calculates compliance with ductile failure criteria. Originator supplied keywords include: Computer aided design; Concrete products--evaluation; CSTR (Computer program); Hydraulic structures; Fortran; Mechanical drawings.

Book Frontiers of Computing Systems Research

Download or read book Frontiers of Computing Systems Research written by Stuart K. Tewksbury and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computing systems researchers confront two serious problems. (1) The increasingly monolithic, or pseudo-monolithic, integration of complex com puting functions and systems imposes an environment which integrates ad vanced principles and techniques from a broad variety of fields. Researchers not only must confront the increased complexity of topics in their specialty field but also must develop a deeper general understanding of a broadening number of fields. (2) There has been a proliferation of journals, books, workshops and conferences through which research results are reported. Remaining familiar with recent advances in our specific fields is a major challenge. Casually browsing through journals and conference proceedings to remain aware of developments in areas outside our specialization has become an even greater challenge. Frontiers of Computing Systems Research has been established to ad dress these two issues. With the assistance of an advisory board of experts from a wide variety of specialized areas, we hope to provide roughly annual volumes of invited chapters on a broad range of topics and designed for an interdisciplinary research audience. No single volume can cover all the rel evant topics and no single article can convey the full set of directions being pursued within a given topic. For this reason, a chapter listing technical reports available from universities is also included. Often, such unpub lished reports are designed for a general research audience and provide a good, informal look at trends in specialized research topics.

Book Distributed Programming

    Book Details:
  • Author : A. Udaya Shankar
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-09-15
  • ISBN : 1461448816
  • Pages : 389 pages

Download or read book Distributed Programming written by A. Udaya Shankar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-09-15 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Distributed Programming: Theory and Practice presents a practical and rigorous method to develop distributed programs that correctly implement their specifications. The method also covers how to write specifications and how to use them. Numerous examples such as bounded buffers, distributed locks, message-passing services, and distributed termination detection illustrate the method. Larger examples include data transfer protocols, distributed shared memory, and TCP network sockets. Distributed Programming: Theory and Practice bridges the gap between books that focus on specific concurrent programming languages and books that focus on distributed algorithms. Programs are written in a "real-life" programming notation, along the lines of Java and Python with explicit instantiation of threads and programs. Students and programmers will see these as programs and not "merely" algorithms in pseudo-code. The programs implement interesting algorithms and solve problems that are large enough to serve as projects in programming classes and software engineering classes. Exercises and examples are included at the end of each chapter with on-line access to the solutions. Distributed Programming: Theory and Practice is designed as an advanced-level text book for students in computer science and electrical engineering. Programmers, software engineers and researchers working in this field will also find this book useful.
