Book The Intercessions Resource Book

Download or read book The Intercessions Resource Book written by John Pritchard and published by SPCK. This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Compelled by the belief that a large number of Christians want to come to God with others’ needs, John Pritchard has created this follow-up to his hugely successful volumes, The Intercessions Handbook and The Second Intercessions Handbook. In a gentle, accessible, style he offers ‘starter’ ideas and introductory material to help those who lead intercessions in public worship and small groups, and aims to open the reader’s imagination to enrich their own style of praying. Everyday language, images and experiences are used in each of the three main sections. The first, looking at intercessions in mainstream worship, offers prayers for each of the 12 months for major festivals and their seasons for special days like Mothering Sunday on themes such as light, storms and fear The second section provides intercessions for use in informal worship and small groups, while the third, focusing on personal payers, includes a section for extroverts. Praise for The Intercessions Handbook: ‘A wake-up call to all those who . . . need to find encouragement, freshness, balance and perseverance in this work of grace.’ Methodist Recorder

Book Creativity Theology and Posttraumatic Growth

Download or read book Creativity Theology and Posttraumatic Growth written by Dustin S. Risser and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-08-11 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relationship between creativity, Christian theology, and experiences of growth after trauma may open pathways towards transformation for individuals and communities. An integrated theory based upon the psychological theories of D. W. Winnicott, the pneumatology of Jürgen Moltmann, and the current science of trauma and creativity is proposed to investigate how playful, creative expression with the world may foster experiences of positive psychological change. This theory suggests that creative action, rooted in a rediscovery of play, might allow for experiences of reorganization and growth after traumatic upheaval. Stewarding creative action after trauma is one way in which the afflicted can collaborate with the Holy Spirit, even in the midst of tragic pain, to honor our wholeness and dignity as beings made in the image of God. Accessing our created, God-given purpose and identity, from a perspective of playful co-creation, is offered as a path to psychological healing and transformation. This approach may have wide-ranging implications for faith-based clinicians, the church, and communities walking through traumatic, desert-like landscapes of the heart.

Offering a launching pad for you to burst into the realm of creative expression—that fun, fantasy world where the Creator is waiting to welcome you. There is a connection between creativity, your identity, the Church, and the world—and it is an important connection. Creativity is tied to all believers’ identity, all who are made in the image of the Creator, all who are born to create! Overflowing with many thrilling, modern-day testimonies, Born to Create emphasizes the magnitude of both craft—practice and excellence—as well as anointing. Many who have been freed to embrace their creative ideas and passions, whether in the art fields, business, or education, share their amazing stories with you. Their freedom allowed them to powerfully release healing, the prophetic, and the knowledge of God’s love into the marketplace. Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law… (Galatians 6:1 The Message). You will learn how the supernatural can be activated through what you create, and you will explore hindrances from understanding your creative destiny—your true identity.
