Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: UV-Visible Spectrophotometry of Waters and Soils, Third Edition presents the latest information on the use of UV spectrophotometry for environmental quality monitoring. Using practical examples, the book illustrates how this technique can be a source of new methods of characterization and measurement. Easy and fast to run, this simple and robust analytical technique is one of the best ways to obtain a quantitative estimation of specific or aggregate parameters (e.g., Nitrate, TOC) and simultaneously qualitative information on the global composition of waters and soils. This third edition presents current methods and applications for water quality monitoring, including recent works and developments. Writing from years of experience in the development and applications of UV systems and from scientific and technical works, the book's authors provide several useful examples that show the great interest of UV spectrophotometry for water and soil monitoring. At the end of the book, the UV spectra library of previous editions is updated with new chemicals of interest. - Broadens coverage from previous editions, including soils and sediments for the first time - Includes all new chapters on natural water and high frequency monitoring, agricultural soils, natural soils, and sediments, as well as updates in all other chapters - Provides a theoretical basis for further research in the field of spectra exploitation - Contains practical applications of this quick, simple and inexpensive technique

Download or read book UV Visible Spectrophotometry of Water and Wastewater written by Olivier Thomas and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-06-14 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: UV-Visible Spectrophotometry of Water and Wastewater, Second Edition, represents an update to the first book dedicated to the use of UV spectrophotometry for water and wastewater quality monitoring. Using practical examples, the book illustrates how this technique can be a source of new methods of characterization and measurement. Easy and fast to run, this simple and robust analytical technique must be considered as one of the best ways to obtain a quantitative estimation of specific or aggregate parameters (e.g., Nitrate, TOC) and simultaneously qualitative information on the global composition of water and its variation. This second edition presents the current methods and applications for water quality monitoring based on UV spectra, including the most recent works and developments. After the introduction of the basics for UV spectrophotometry understanding, the applications of UV measurement are presented, both from the family of chemicals and water quality parameters and from the type of water. Writing from years of experience in the development and applications of UV systems and from scientific and technical works, the authors provide several useful examples showing the great interest of UV spectrophotometry for water quality monitoring. At the end of the book, the UV spectra library of the first edition is updated with dozens of new chemicals of interest. - Adds dozens of new chemicals of interest to the first library of UV-spectra dedicated to water, providing data readily available for researchers and users - Includes new sections on data integrity and security, UV estimation of classes of compounds, UV and turbidity, drinking water, pollution tracking, high frequency monitoring, disinfection by products assessment, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and more - Provides a theoretical basis for further research in the field of spectra exploitation - Contains helpful practical applications of this quick, simple, and inexpensive technique

Book excerpt: L'OBJECTIF DE CETTE ETUDE EST DE PROPOSER DES METHODES DE MESURE SIMPLES ET RAPIDES DE LA QUALITE DES EAUX, POUVANT SE SUBSTITUER AUX METHODES DE REFERENCE. POUR CELA, DES TECHNIQUES BASEES SUR L'UTILISATION DE RAYONNEMENT ULTRAVIOLET (REACTIONS PHOTOCHIMIQUES ET SPECTROPHOTOMETRIE) ONT ETE UTILISEES AU SEIN D'UN NOUVEAU CONCEPT APPELE COUPLAGE UV/UV. L'INTERET ET L'EFFICACITE DE CE COUPLAGE ONT ETE PROUVES AU TRAVERS DE DIFFERENTES APPLICATIONS ENVIRONNEMENTALES COMME LA DETERMINATION DE PARAMETRES DE POLLUTION DES EAUX QUE SONT LES FORMES AZOTEES ET PHOSPHOREES. LES PROCEDURES DEVELOPPEES SONT PLUS RAPIDES, MOINS CONTRAIGNANTES ET TOUT AUSSI PERFORMANTES QUE CERTAINES METHODES DE REFERENCE. L'APPLICATION DU COUPLAGE UV/UV A PERMIS EGALEMENT DE DEVELOPPER DES PROCEDURES DE MESURE DE COMPOSES NON ABSORBANTS DANS LE DOMAINE ULTRAVIOLET (SUCRES ET POLY-ALCOOLS), ET DONT LA DETERMINATION PAR LES METHODES CLASSIQUES EST DIFFICILE. ENFIN, L'ETUDE A PARTIR DE MOLECULES AROMATIQUES MODELES FAIT APPARAITRE LE COUPLAGE UV/UV COMME PROMETTEUR POUR LE SUIVI DE PROCEDES D'EPURATION D'EFFLUENTS INDUSTRIELS REFRACTAIRES AUX TRAITEMENTS CLASSIQUES. LE COUPLAGE UV/UV APPARAIT DONC COMME UNE TECHNIQUE TRES INTERESSANTE, POUR LA MESURE DE PARAMETRES SPECIFIQUES ET LE CONTROLE DE PROCEDES DE DEGRADATION ET NOVATRICE PAR SON APPROCHE INTEGREE.

Book Spectroscopic Data Relative to Diatomic Molecules

Download or read book Spectroscopic Data Relative to Diatomic Molecules written by B. Rosen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-24 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spectroscopic Data Relative to Diatomic Molecules provides information pertinent to the electronic spectrum and spectroscopic properties of diatomic molecules. This book consists of a collection of tables that mainly deal with electronic spectra located in the infrared, the visible and the ultraviolet. Thermochemical data have been used in this book to make estimates of dissociation energies while results from electron diffraction experiments have been used to determine internuclear distances. This text provides information regarding potential energy curves, ionization potential, correlations with atomic states, electronic configuration, lifetimes, transition probabilities, astrophysical applications, and chemical physics. This book is a valuable resource for spectroscopists.

Download or read book Silane Coupling Agents written by Edwin P. Plueddemann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: * It has been rumored that a bumble bee has such aerodynamic deficiencies that it should be incapable of flight. Fiberglass-reinforced polymer com posites, similarly, have two (apparently) insurmountable obstacles to per formance: 1) Water can hydrolyze any conceivable bond between organic and inorganic phase, and 2) Stresses across the interface during temperature cycling (resulting from a mismatch in thermal expansion coefficients) may exceed the strength of one of the phases. Organofunctional silanes are hybrid organic-inorganic compounds that are used as coupling agents across the organic-inorganic interface to help overcome these two obstacles to composite performance. One of their functions is to use the hydrolytic action of water under equilibrium condi tions to relieve thermally induced stresses across the interface. If equilib rium conditions can be maintained, the two problems act to cancel each other out. Coupling agents are defined primarily as materials that improve the practical adhesive bond of polymer to mineral. This may involve an increase in true adhesion, but it may also involve improved wetting, rheology, and other handling properties. The coupling agent may also modify the inter phase region to strengthen the organic and inorganic boundary layers.
