Book Steel Corrosion and Degradation of its Mechanical Properties

Download or read book Steel Corrosion and Degradation of its Mechanical Properties written by Chun-Qing Li and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-09-19 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the state-of-the-art-knowledge on corrosion of steel, cast iron and ductile iron with a focus on corrosion-induced degradation of their mechanical properties. The information presented in the book is largely derived from the most current research on the effect of corrosion on degradation of mechanical properties. The book covers the basics of steel corrosion, including that of cast iron and ductile iron, that are not well covered in most literature. Models for corrosion-induced degradation of mechanical properties are presented in the book with a view to wider applications. The knowledge presented in the book can be used to prevent corrosion-induced failures of corrosion-affected structures, offering enormous benefits to the industry, business, society and community. Key strengths of the book are that it can be employed by a variety of users for different purposes in designing and assessing corrosion-affected structures, and that the knowledge and techniques presented in the book can be easily applied by users in dealing with corrosion-affected structures, and the uniqueness in examining the corrosion effect on degradation of various mechanical properties. Wtih examples of practical applications, the book is particularly useful for all stakeholders involved in steel manufacturing and construction, including engineering students, academicians, researchers, practitioners and asset managers.

Book Corrosion and Protection

Download or read book Corrosion and Protection written by Einar Bardal and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-06-14 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corrosion and Protection is an essential guide for mechanical, marine and civil engineering students and also provides a valuable reference for practicing engineers. Bardal combines a description of practical corrosion processes and problems with a theoretical explanation of the various types and forms of corrosion, with a central emphasis on the connections between practical problems and basic scientific principles. This well thought-out introduction to corrosion science, with excellent examples and useful tables, is also extremely well illustrated with 167 diagrams and photographs. Readers with a limited background in chemistry can also find it accessible.

Book Fatigue and Corrosion in Metals

Download or read book Fatigue and Corrosion in Metals written by Vivek Tiwari and published by Scitus Academics LLC. This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corrosion fatigue is fatigue in a corrosive environment. It is the mechanical degradation of a material under the joint action of corrosion and cyclic loading. Nearly all engineering structures experience some form of alternating stress, and are exposed to harmful environments during their service life. The environment plays a significant role in the fatigue of high-strength structural materials like steel, aluminum alloys and titanium alloys. Materials with high specific strength are being developed to meet the requirements of advancing technology. However, their usefulness depends to a large extent on the extent to which they resist corrosion fatigue. The effects of corrosive environments on the fatigue behavior of metals were studied as early as 1930. The phenomenon should not be confused with stress corrosion cracking, where corrosion (such as pitting) leads to the development of brittle cracks, growth and failure. The only requirement for corrosion fatigue is that the sample be under tensile stress.
