Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1955, we have conducted an annual one-week ECG course at Innsbruck. This book represents a summary of our didactic experience. This English translation follows the enlarged sixth German edition. It contains many diagrams and new examples of tracings, such as the orthogonal leads system of Frank, explanation of extreme axis devia tion by the hemiblock concept, atrioventricular conduction disorders (His bundle electrogram), re-entry mechanisms, and the exercise ECG. The limits and dangers of ECG interpretations that, in our opinion, should be emphasized in an introductory presentation, are summarized in a final chapter. Our main aim was to make indigestible material palatable to the beginner; to provide him with a red thread through the labyrinth of ECG patterns by adopting a uniform approach, namely vectorial interpretation, in order to understand especially difficult areas (e. g. the differential diagnosis of infarction) by means of simplified diagrams; and to prepare him for the study of systematic textbooks. We believe that many such books should be read in order to comprehend a subject that is generally considered difficult by physicians and at the same time to promote critical understanding when called upon to evaluate an ECG in practice. The following publications to which we ourselves owe valuable suggestions, even if they are not explicitly mentioned in our text, are recommended: BELZ, G. G., STAUCH, M.: Notfall-EKG-Fibel, 2nd ed. Berlin, Heidel berg, New York: Springer 1977 BUCHNER, C. H., DRAGERT, W.: Schrittmachertherapie des Herzens.

Download or read book Advances In Electrocardiology 2004 Proceedings Of The 31th International Congress On Electrocardiology written by Masayasu Hiraoka and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2005-04-13 with total page 891 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrocardiology has witnessed a century of development since the introduction of Einthoven's Galvanometer. With rapid progress in the scientific, technological and clinical aspects of the field of electrocardiology in recent years, electrocardiology now covers a wide range of topics from molecules as the electrical origin of the heart to diagnostic and therapeutic applications for cardiovascular diseases. This volume presents the latest information and developments in the field, from basic science to clinical electrocardiology. A wide range of topics are covered, including molecular biology, genetics, channelopathy, atrial fibrillation, catheter ablation, modeling of cardiac electrical activity, cardiac mapping, as well as diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiac disease and arrhythmic disorders.Contributors to the volume include leading experts in the field such as PJ Schwartz, C Antzelevitch, Y Rudy, HJGM Vrijin, DG Escande, AAM Wilde, DA Kass, J Jalife and A d'Avila. The book is an essential source of reference for cardiologists and electrocardiologists.

Book Atlas of Pediatric and Youth ECG

Download or read book Atlas of Pediatric and Youth ECG written by Gabriele Bronzetti and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-30 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes in detail the specific aspects of ECG during childhood and adolescence, pursuing an accessible, didactic and easy-to-read approach. Instructive, self-contained and intelligently written, it succeeds in making this diagnostic tool, the interpretation of which is especially complex in younger patients, more comprehensible, while also offering a sound and extensive reference guide for all those who diagnose young patients with electrocardiography. Though ECG produces a relatively simple set of readings, its interpretation and diagnosis are complex. If misinterpreted, a “butterfly effect” of hidden, often neglected heart signals can lead to important and sometimes devastating consequences. Featuring an exceptionally wide range of ECG recordings and examples, the volume sheds new light on the importance of electrophysiological examinations for patients still in their developmental years and provides advice on the use of ECG in connection with recent regulations on the participation of children, adolescents and young athletes in sports. Thanks to the variety of scenarios described, from the most frequent to the most insidious, this work will appeal to a broad readership, from cardiologists and pediatricians to family physicians, anesthesiologists, doctors in sports medicine, students and nurses.
