Book excerpt: L'objectif de cette thèse est de mettre en évidence l'avantage comparatif de la coopération inter-entreprises dans le développement de l'audiovisuel en Europe. L'analyse s'inscrit dans une démarche traditionnelle de l'économie industrielle, à savoir l'approche structuraliste au sens de l'école de Harvard : structure, comportement, performance. Ainsi, la coopération inter-entreprises est une réponse stratégique à la globalisation croissante des marchés et aux mutations technologiques. A cet égard, l'étude du phénomène coopératif s'appuie sur les apports récents des théories modernes de la firme, notamment la théorie des barrières à l'entrée, la théorie des réseaux, la théorie des coûts de transaction et la théorie de la ressource et des compétences. L'objectif ultime est de contribuer à une approche intégrale de la coopération inter-entreprises répondant aux caractéristiques spécifiques du secteur audiovisuel européen. Dans une dernière étape, l'impact de la coopération inter-entreprises sur le bien-être du consommateur est mis en évidence à travers une analyse juridico-économique des jugements de la Commission euorpéenne de concurrence sur de récents mouvements d'alliance.
