Book Vector and Parallel Processing VECPAR 2000

Download or read book Vector and Parallel Processing VECPAR 2000 written by Jose M.L.M. Palma and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-29 with total page 589 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the ?nal outcome of VECPAR 2000 – 4th International Meeting on Vector and Parallel Processing. VECPAR constitutes a series of conferences, which have been organized by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto since 1993, with the main objective of disseminating new knowledge on parallel computing. Readership of This Book The book is aimed at an audience of researchers and graduate students in a broad range of scienti?c areas, including not only computer science, but also applied mathematics and numerical analysis, physics, and engineering. Book Plan From a total of 66 papers selected on the basis of extended abstracts for p- sentation at the conference, a subset of 34 papers were chosen during a second review process leading to their inclusion in the book, together with the invited talks. The book contains a total of 40 papers organized into 6 chapters, where each may appeal to people in di?erent but still related scienti?c areas. All ch- ters, with the exception of Chapter 6, are initiated by a short text, providing a quick overview of the organization and papers in the chapter. The 13 papers in Chapter 1 cover the aspects related to the use of multiple processors. Operating systems, languages and software tools for scheduling, and code transformation are the topics included in this chapter, initiated by the talk on computing over the Internet, entitled Grid Computing,byIan Foster.

Book Elastic Plastic Mixed Iterative Finite Element Analysis

Download or read book Elastic Plastic Mixed Iterative Finite Element Analysis written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-02 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An elastic-plastic algorithm based on Von Mises and associative flow criteria is implemented in MHOST-a mixed iterative finite element analysis computer program developed by NASA Lewis Research Center. The performance of the resulting elastic-plastic mixed-iterative analysis is examined through a set of convergence studies. Membrane and bending behaviors of 4-node quadrilateral shell finite elements are tested for elastic-plastic performance. Generally, the membrane results are excellent, indicating the implementation of elastic-plastic mixed-iterative analysis is appropriate. Sutjahjo, Edhi and Chamis, Christos C. Book The P Version of the Finite Element Method in Incremental Elasto Plastic Analysis

Download or read book The P Version of the Finite Element Method in Incremental Elasto Plastic Analysis written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-13 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whereas the higher-order versions of the finite elements method (the p- and hp-version) are fairly well established as highly efficient methods for monitoring and controlling the discretization error in linear problems, little has been done to exploit their benefits in elasto-plastic structural analysis. Aspects of incremental elasto-plastic finite element analysis which are particularly amenable to improvements by the p-version is discussed. These theoretical considerations are supported by several numerical experiments. First, an example for which an analytical solution is available is studied. It is demonstrated that the p-version performs very well even in cycles of elasto-plastic loading and unloading, not only as compared to the traditional h-version but also in respect to the exact solution. Finally, an example of considerable practical importance - the analysis of a cold-worked lug - is presented which demonstrates how the modeling tools offered by higher-order finite element techniques can contribute to an improved approximation of practical problems. Download or read book Large Scale Scientific Computing written by Ivan Lirkov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-04-23 with total page 855 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 7th International Conference on Large-Scale Scienti?c Computations (LSSC 2009) was held in Sozopol, Bulgaria, June 4–8, 2009. The conference was organized and sponsored by the Institute for Parallel Processing at the B- garian Academy of Sciences. The conference was devoted to the 70th birthday anniversary of Professor Zahari Zlatev. The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences awarded him the Marin Drinov medal on ribbon for his outstanding results in environmental mat- matics and for his contributions to the Bulgarian mathematical society and the Academy of Sciences. The plenary invited speakers and lectures were: – P. Arbenz, “?Finite Element Analysis of Human Bone Structures” – Y. Efendiev, “Mixed Multiscale Finite Element Methods Using Limited Global Information” – U. Langer, “Fast Solvers for Non-Linear Time-Harmonic Problems” – T. Manteu?el, “First-Order System Least-Squares Approach to Resistive Magnetohydrodynamic Equations” – K. Sabelfeld, “Stochastic Simulation for Solving Random Boundary Value Problems and Some Applications” – F. Tro ¨ltzsch,“OnFinite ElementErrorEstimatesforOptimalControlPr- lems with Elliptic PDEs” – Z. Zlatev, “On Some Stability Properties of the Richardson Extrapolation Applied Together with the ?-method” The success of the conference and the present volume in particular are an outcome of the joint e?orts of many partnersfrom various institutions and or- nizations. Firstwe wouldlike to thank allthe membersofthe Scienti?c Comm- tee for their valuable contribution forming the scienti?c face of the conference, as well as for their help in reviewing contributed papers. We especially thank the organizers of the special sessions.
