Book Italian National Forest Inventory Methods and Results of the Third Survey

Download or read book Italian National Forest Inventory Methods and Results of the Third Survey written by Patrizia Gasparini and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-09-29 with total page 598 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book deals with the methods and the results of the third Italian national forest inventory (INFC2015). Arma dei Carabinieri is entrusted with the realisation of the National Forest Inventory and with the decisions about the aims of the survey and data treatment. National forest inventories produce statistically based information on forests over country areas. Such information is used either at subnational or at supranational level in a great number of spheres and processes, included possibility to depict the status of the world forests. Italy conducted its first forest inventory in 1985 and in 2001 a permanent national forest inventory was launched to have periodically updated statistics. Due to the growing concern about the environment and especially the climate change, estimating forests carbon pools was a stated main objective and it was accordingly named Italian National Inventory of Forest and Forest Carbon Pools (INFC). The book begins with a description of the general organisation, the definitions, the methods and the estimation procedures. It proceeds showing the main estimates produced by INFC2015, in tables that are given in the book chapters. The estimates are presented through texts that introduce the subject matter, explain the way the related variables were surveyed and comment on the main outcomes with the help of graphics. The estimates presented include forest area, management and production, biodiversity and protection, forest health, protective and socio-economics functions. Role of forest in the carbon balance was analysed in a specific Chapter, as this is important for its role in the climate change mitigation. The book ends providing an understanding of the current dynamics of Italian forests by comparing the estimates obtained from INFC2005 and INFC2015, the last two national surveys.

Book Antonio Ruberti

Download or read book Antonio Ruberti written by Claudio Gori Giorgi and published by Sapienza Università Editrice. This book was released on 2015-07-14 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the notable successes that Ruberti achieved in his life, and sometimes welcomed with the closet friends, the most important one was omitted or undervalued: he had been able to gain the trust of all the communities in which he had operated. Whether a university institute, faculty, institution, ministry, European Commission or Parliament, people trusted him. Today more than ever, it is useful to trace Ruberti’s life and works to discover the path that permitted him to be considered reliable by so many members of the communities he lived in. That is the aim of this book which tries to map out, beyond a narrative of episodes and memories, a framework of values to support a governance that is concrete, credible and searching for the common good.

Book Notes on Linear Control Systems

Download or read book Notes on Linear Control Systems written by Stefano Battilotti and published by Società Editrice Esculapio. This book was released on 2019-07-08 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These notes illustrate the basic elements for analysis and design of linear control systems. With 15 chapters and an appendix of 4 sections the notes start from the notion of mathematical model (system), explaining its important role in the study of a phenomenon and how linear models can arise in practice. Through the time and Laplace analysis the behaviour of a linear model is studied in detail. The basic notions of stability, steady-state and transient response and structural properties give a deep insight in the study of the behavior of an abstract model. In this first part of the notes, the emphasis has been put on the analysis of the properties of a linear system. In the second part of these notes the basic model interconnections are studied, in particular the feedback interconnection and its importance in the design of control systems. Different design methodologies (dynamics assignment, root locus, tracking and disturbance compensation) are illustrated in detail with the support of useful criteria (Nyquist criterion, Routh table) and mathematical tools. In the appendix the necessary mathematical tools are reviewed. The arguments are supported by many examples and figures.

Book Photovoltaic Sources

Download or read book Photovoltaic Sources written by Maria Carmela Di Piazza and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-10-15 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modeling of photovoltaic sources and their emulation by means of power electronic converters are challenging issues. The former is tied to the knowledge of the electrical behavior of the PV generator; the latter consists in its realization by a suitable power amplifier. This extensive introduction to the modeling of PV generators and their emulation by means of power electronic converters will aid in understanding and improving design and set up of new PV plants. The main benefit of reading Photovoltaic Sources is the ability to face the emulation of photovoltaic generators obtained by the design of a suitable equipment in which voltage and current are the same as in a real source. This is achieved according to the following steps: the source electrical behavior modeling, the power converter design, including its control, for the laboratory emulator. This approach allows the reader to cope with the creation of an indoor virtual photovoltaic plant, in which the environmental conditions can be imposed by the user, for testing real operation including maximum power point tracking, partial shading, control for the grid or load interfacing, etc. Photovoltaic Sources is intended to meet the demands of postgraduate level students, and should prove useful to professional engineers and researchers dealing with the problems associated with modeling and emulation of photovoltaic sources.
