Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mathematical theory of control became a ?eld of study half a century ago in attempts to clarify and organize some challenging practical problems and the methods used to solve them. It is known for the breadth of the mathematics it uses and its cross-disciplinary vigor. Its literature, which can befoundinSection93ofMathematicalReviews,wasatonetimedominatedby the theory of linear control systems, which mathematically are described by linear di?erential equations forced by additive control inputs. That theory led to well-regarded numerical and symbolic computational packages for control analysis and design. Nonlinear control problems are also important; in these either the - derlying dynamical system is nonlinear or the controls are applied in a n- additiveway.Thelastfourdecadeshaveseenthedevelopmentoftheoretical work on nonlinear control problems based on di?erential manifold theory, nonlinear analysis, and several other mathematical disciplines. Many of the problems that had been solved in linear control theory, plus others that are new and distinctly nonlinear, have been addressed; some resulting general de?nitions and theorems are adapted in this book to the bilinear case.

Book excerpt: "In-depth discussions of selected topics (such as Z transform, and pole placement when the control signal was a vector quantity) have been moved to optional Appendices. discusses in detail the theoretical background for designing control systems. offers a greatly expanded treatment of the pole placement design with minimum-order observer by means of state space approach (Ch. 6) and polynomial equations approach (Ch. 7). features a new chapter on the polynomial equations approach to the control systems design as an alternative to the design of control systems via pole placement with minimum-order observers. Includes the design of model matching control systems. emphasizes the usefulness of MATLAB for studying discrete-time control systems showing how to use MATLAB optimally to obtain numerical solutions that involve various types of vector-matrix operations, plotting response curves, and system design based on quadratic optimal control. presents many instructive examples and worked-out problems throughout the entire book."--

Book On the Controllability of a Class of Discrete Bilinear Systems

Download or read book On the Controllability of a Class of Discrete Bilinear Systems written by Tsuyoshi Goka and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of the paper is the controllability of a class of autonomous discrete bilinear systems. Bilinear systems are classified into two categories; homogeneous and inhomogeneous. The necessity as well as the sufficiency results are obtained by means of decomposing the bilinear system into a linear system and a multiplicative feedback. By-products of the decomposition are the notions of multiplicative feedback compensation and the multiplicative feedback with bias compensation which may prove to be alternatives for the classical linear feedback compensation. Book Geometric Methods in System Theory

Download or read book Geometric Methods in System Theory written by D.Q. Mayne and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geometric Methods in System Theory In automatic control there are a large number of applications of a fairly simple type for which the motion of the state variables is not free to evolve in a vector space but rather must satisfy some constraints. Examples are numerous; in a switched, lossless electrical network energy is conserved and the state evolves on an ellipsoid surface defined by x'Qx equals a constant; in the control of finite state, continuous time, Markov processes the state evolves on the set x'x = 1, xi ~ O. The control of rigid body motions and trajectory control leads to problems of this type. There has been under way now for some time an effort to build up enough control theory to enable one to treat these problems in a more or less routine way. It is important to emphasise that the ordinary vector space-linear theory often gives the wrong insight and thus should not be relied upon.

Book Discrete Time Control System Design with Applications

Download or read book Discrete Time Control System Design with Applications written by C.A. Rabbath and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-02 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique book provides a bridge between digital control theory and vehicle guidance and control practice. It presents practical techniques of digital redesign and direct discrete-time design suitable for a real-time implementation of controllers and guidance laws at multiple rates and with and computational techniques. The theory of digital control is given as theorems, lemmas, and propositions. The design of the digital guidance and control systems is illustrated by means of step-by-step procedures, algorithms, and case studies. The systems proposed are applied to realistic models of unmanned systems and missiles, and digital implementation.

Book Control Problems of Discrete Time Dynamical Systems

Download or read book Control Problems of Discrete Time Dynamical Systems written by Yasumichi Hasegawa and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-01-20 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph deals with control problems of discrete-time dynamical systems which include linear and nonlinear input/output relations In its present second enlarged edition the control problems of linear and non-linear dynamical systems will be solved as algebraically as possible. Adaptive control problems are newly proposed and solved for dynamical systems which satisfy the time-invariant condition. The monograph provides new results and their extensions which can also be more applicable for nonlinear dynamical systems. A new method which produces manipulated inputs is presented in the sense of state control and output control. To present the effectiveness of the method, many numerical examples of control problems are provided as well.
