Actuellement, plusieurs matériaux de coiffage sont disponibles sur le marché. Cependant, ces derniers possèdent plusieurs limites conduisant les recherches au développement d'autres biomatériaux. Parmi ces nouveaux matériaux, les bioverres pourraient constituer une approche intéressante dans les techniques de coiffage pulpaire en vue de réparer et de régénérer le complexe dentino-pulpaire. Les bioverres (ou verres bio actifs) ont été décrits comme capables d'établir une liaison avec le tissu osseux, notamment grâce à la formation d'une couche d'hydroxyapatite carbonatée. Il est donc fort probable que la dentine (dont la phase minérale est constituée d'hydroxyapatite) puisse établir avec ces matériaux, une liaison semblable à celle décrite pour le tissu osseux. En favorisant la synthèse d'une couche d'hydroxyapatite, ces matériaux pourraient donc constituer une alternative thérapeutique intéressante dans la réparation de la dentine. Ce travail a donc pour objectif d'étudier quelle pourrait être la place des bioverres dans les thérapeutiques de régénération du complexe dentino-pulpaire. Après avoir décrit les tissus dentaires ainsi que les techniques actuelles de conservation de la vitalité pulpaire, seront abordées les propriétés des bioverres et leurs indications possibles dans les thérapeutiques futures."

Nous n'avons pas terminé de voir ces thérapies de préservation pulpaire se diffuser, celles-ci étant une réelle chance pour l'organe dentaire et plus globalement pour le patient.
