Book excerpt: Réaliser un système automatisé de production nécessite l'intégration des activités de plusieurs métiers centrés autour de deux grans pôles : les métiers de l'automatique, pour la partie"contrôle-commande"et les métiers de la construction mécanique pour la partie opérative. Bien qu'un système automatisé de production forme un tout cohérent, il n'existe pas d'outil intégrant et manipulant l'ensemble des informations propre à une application industrielle donnée et cela depuis sa phase de conception jusqu'à son utilisation et sa maintenance en production. Un certain nombre d'études et de recherches ont été menées pour le champ de l'automatique et supportent un travail normatif, la norme NFZ68-901 dite Base-PTA (1996). Par contre, dans des domaines connexes à celui de la mécanique pour les systèmes automatisés de production (SAP) existent des réalisations portées par des recherches universitaires et industrielles, et traitant de la conception routinière d'ensembles mécaniques : le projet KoMoD (Knowledge Modelling for Design). Le but de ce travail est d'examiner sous quelles conditions il est possible d'étendre les principes fondateurs de Base-PTA à l'ensemble du génie automatique, intégrant de facto le domaine mécanique, pour tenter d'obtenir un outil de modélisation et d'intégration de l'ensemble des données du domaine que demande le concept du poste de travail du génie automatique étendu. A la suite de quoi et du point de vue opérationnel, une application est instanciée à partir du modèle général établi. Elle porte qur la conception de guidages linéaires à galets construits à partir d'une famile de produits préfabriqués et vendus sur étagères.

The conference brought together two hundred and fifty specialists from around the world. About ninety papers and twenty posters were presented covering three main topics : optimization and evaluation of the product design process, optimization and evaluation of the manufacturing systems and methodological aspects.
