Book Speciation Studies in Soil Sediment and Environmental Samples

Download or read book Speciation Studies in Soil Sediment and Environmental Samples written by Sezgin Bakirdere and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2013-09-26 with total page 614 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent developments clearly indicate that speciation studies in biological and environmental matrices are much more important than the total element determination due to the tremendous difference in bioavailability and toxicity of various chemical forms of a particular element. Different separation-detection techniques and hyphenated systems—each with its own advantages and disadvantages with respect to precision, sensitivity and detection limit—have been developed for the identification and quantification of the species present in systems at ultra-trace levels. This book aims to evaluate the speciation analysis in depth and present a comprehensive review of state-of-the-art analytical approaches used for the speciation of elements in environmental samples.

Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by W. H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing. house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 25 (thesis year 1980) a total of 10,308 theses titles from 27 Canadian and 214 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 25 reports theses submitted in 1980, on occasion, certain universities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book Sample Introduction Systems in ICPMS and ICPOES

Download or read book Sample Introduction Systems in ICPMS and ICPOES written by Diane Beauchemin and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2020-03-15 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sample Introduction Systems in ICPMS and ICPOES provides an in-depth analysis of sample introduction strategies, including flow injection analysis and less common techniques, such as arc/spark ablation and direct sample insertion. The book critically evaluates what has been accomplished so far, along with what can be done to extend the capabilities of the technique for analyses of any type of sample, such as aqueous, gaseous or solid. The latest progress made in fields, such as FIA, ETV, LC-ICP-MS and CE-ICP-MS is included and critically discussed. The book addresses problems related to the optimization of the system, peak dispersion and calibration and automatization. - Provides contributions from recognized experts that give credibility to each chapter as a reference source - Presents a single source, providing the big picture for ICPMS and ICPOES - Covers theory, methods, selected applications and discrete sampling techniques - Includes access to core data for practical work, comparison of results and decision-making

Book Comparison of Adsorbed Mercury Screening Method with Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry for Determination of Mercury in Soil

Download or read book Comparison of Adsorbed Mercury Screening Method with Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry for Determination of Mercury in Soil written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-06-15 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A field screening method for the determination of elemental mercury in environmental soil samples involves the thermal desorption of the mercury from the sample onto gold and then the thermal desorption from the gold to a gold-film mercury vapor analyzer. This field screening method contains a large number of conditions that could be optimized for the various types of soils encountered. In this study, the conditions were optimized for the determination of mercury in silty clay materials, and the results were comparable to the cold-vapor atomic absorption spectrophotometric method of determination. This paper discusses the benefits and disadvantages of employing the field screening method and provides the sequence of conditions that must be optimized to employ this method of determination on other soil types.
