Download or read book Preliminary Pilot Plant Investigation of the Acid Leach CCD Solvent Extraction Process as Applied to White Canyon Ores written by A. W. Griffith and published by . This book was released on 1957 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The preliminary operation of the Acid Leach - CCD - Solvent Extraction Pilot Plant at Grand Junction, Colorado, was conducted from November 8, 1956 to January 3, 1957 using White Canyon ores. The report contains information on the grinding, leaching, and liquid-solid separation by continuous countercurrent decantation. Detailed information is presented on the liquid-liquid solvent extraction of the leach liquor using organic solvents containing di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid or triisooctyl amine. Results show White Canyon ores to be amenable to the Acid Leach - CCD - Solvent Extraction process. Using di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid, reagent consumptions were relatively high, whereas with triisooctyl amine excellent recovery of uranium was obtained with moderate reagent requirements.

Download or read book Nuclear Science Abstracts written by and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 1144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NSA is a comprehensive collection of international nuclear science and technology literature for the period 1948 through 1976, pre-dating the prestigious INIS database, which began in 1970. NSA existed as a printed product (Volumes 1-33) initially, created by DOE's predecessor, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). NSA includes citations to scientific and technical reports from the AEC, the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration and its contractors, plus other agencies and international organizations, universities, and industrial and research organizations. References to books, conference proceedings, papers, patents, dissertations, engineering drawings, and journal articles from worldwide sources are also included. Abstracts and full text are provided if available.

Download or read book Chemical Plant and Its Operation written by T. M. Cook and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-19 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemical Plant and Its Operation (Including Safety and Health Aspects), Second SI Edition describes chemical plant operations from a practical standpoint. This book is divided into eight chapters. Chapter 1 describes the materials used in the construction of a chemical plant. The second chapter explains the storage and conveyance of solids, liquids, and gases from raw materials to finished products. Chapter 3 reviews the common items of equipment that form a complete working unit of a plant. The three classifications of chemical operations—techniques of operation, specialized operations, and unit operations are described in Chapter 4. Chapter 5 discusses the measurement of variable quantities, while Chapter 6 focuses on the maintenance of a chemical plant. The last chapters deal with the services and safety aspects of chemical operations. This edition is designed to meet the needs of chemical operatives who are preparing for the examinations for the ordinary and advanced certificates in chemical plant operation, including those taking chemical technician courses.
Download or read book The Separation of Chromium and Iron by the Solvent Extraction of Ferrochromium Leach Liquors written by and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The separation of chromium and iron by the solvent extraction of solutions obtained from the leaching of ferrochromium with either hydrochloric or sulphuric acid was investigated as part of a potential process for the production of electrolytic chromium metal from ferrochromium fines. The most suitable extraction system was found to be that based on the use of the secondary amine Amberlite LA-2 for the selective removal of iron(III) from concentrated chloride media. A trial of continuous countercurrent extraction lasting 48 hours was carried out on a ten-stage mixer-settler miniplant. The aqueous phase consisted of solutions obtained from the leaching of ferrochromium fines with a mixture of hydrochloric acid and chromium (III) chloride, followed by oxidation with chlorine, and contained 25g of iron per litre. Raffinates containing less than 0,05 g of iron per litre and concentrated strip liquors containing up to 115 g of iron per litre were obtained. The losses of chromium to the strip liquors amounted to only 0,1 per cent of the metal contained in the aqueous feed solution.
