Book Consultation between the Conference of European Churches CEC and the Leuenberg Church Fellowship LCF on ecclesiology

Download or read book Consultation between the Conference of European Churches CEC and the Leuenberg Church Fellowship LCF on ecclesiology written by Wilhelm Hüffmeier and published by . This book was released on 2004-01 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

In this groundbreaking study, John Flett presents a bold account of an apostolicity that embraces plurality.

Download or read book Liquid Ecclesiology written by Pete Ward and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2017-06-06 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Liquid Ecclesiology Pete Ward explores the theological contours of the turn to ethnography in the study of the Christian Church. His approach rests on a theology of culture that holds in tension and paradox the expression of the Church and divine presence. This theological framework is then developed through an extended qualitative empirical case study examining the communicative practices of the contemporary evangelical Church. The case study examines how the evangelical Gospel through expression has become marginalised in the everyday life of communities being replaced by a new more individual and personalised theology seen in worship songs. The final section of the book returns to the debates around ethnographic forms of theology and the question of normativity. This book will be of interest to all those engaged in empirical and theological work, as well as those researching the contemporary Church and evangelicalism

Book A Church Without Borders

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "What kind of Church arises from the Lord's table?" "Doctrine, customs, culture, and history divide the Churches. Christians do not share a common table. Can a divided and injured Church celebrate the Eucharist, the sacrament of Christian communion?" "These are a few of the questions addressed in this study of the ecclesiology of communion. The "borderless" Church of the infinite love of Christ exists today. The divided Churches need only receive the communion of God as their innermost nature - at the borderless table of God's kingdom."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Book Practical Theological Ecclesiology

Download or read book Practical Theological Ecclesiology written by David Smith and published by . This book was released on 2018-05-11 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PRACTICAL THEOLOGICAL ECCLESIOLOGY addresses the division that exists between theory and praxis. Theology in general and practical theology as a specific discipline has allowed this division to arise and indeed grow. The problem facing us is that faith communities now operate out of blind theory and/or blind praxis. To address this situation a reintegration of the theory and practice of the entire ecclesial praxis is needed. This thesis proposes "Practical Theological Ecclesiology" as the way forward. Practical theological ecclesiology addresses both the abstractness of pure ecclesiology and the pragmatics of the praxis through the development of an operational ecclesiology model that integrates the essence, expression and goal dimensions of the ecclesial praxis. By applying the operational ecclesiology model to praxis, practical theological ecclesiology, through the tasks of grounding, integrating, aligning and improving, uncover the gaps that exist in and between the theory and praxis of a faith community. The resulting analysis provides ecclesial pictures of what is, compared to what should be, according to the operational ecclesiology model. The areas of ecclesial life which need to be grounded, integrated, aligned and improved are therefore exposed for ongoing work. Historical and contemporary research of the Christian Community Churches of Australia, provide the data for a case study which illustrates the potential and the analysis process of practical theological ecclesiology. The research underlines the importance of having an integrated operational ecclesiology, of grounding and integrating the theory, of aligning of theory and praxis, and of providing improvement direction for the praxis, thus removing theory and praxis division, avoiding both blind theory and blind praxis, and giving a clear pathway for the future.

Book Ecumenical Ecclesiology

Download or read book Ecumenical Ecclesiology written by Gesa Elsbeth Thiessen and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a rich collection of fifteen articles by European, North American and Asian theologians who are concerned with the concept, life, unity and future of the church. It offers a wealth of broad perspectives on ecclesiology by scholars from Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox backgrounds. The first section, 'Perspectives on Ecumenical Ecclesiology', comprises reflections on postmodern ecclesiologies as well as on the development and problems concerning ecumenical methods and models of unity. The second section, 'Communion Ecclesiology and Otherness', provides some pertinent deliberations on how an ecclesiology of communion can integrate otherness. In particular, Zizioulas' communion ecclesiology is critically examined, the possibility for a retrieval of Eucharistic theology between Catholics and Orthodox is put forward, and Tillard's communion ecclesiology is appraised as offering resources for innerdenominational otherness. The final section, 'Ecclesiology in Global Contexts', considers critically the possibility of evangelical ecclesiology as an answer to ethnic impaired Christian community. The role of the (Catholic) Church and its values in Europe and vis-à-vis the European Constitution is examined. The Church of Nigeria's Constitutional Revision (2005) and its ecclesial- ecumenical implications comes into focus, and three notable concepts of unity, as developed by three Indian scholars, S.K. George, John Sadiq and Karem David, are evaluated. Finally, the Japanese diaspora in the States is appraised as a place where a particular Japanese Christian vision could emerge through the "internationalist ecclesiology" developed by Japanese Christian missionaries
