Book excerpt: La consommation de médicaments psychotropes chez le sujet âgé constitue un enjeu majeur de santé publique nécessitant la mise en place d’études pharmaco-épidémiologiques permettant l’évaluation des effets des médicaments psychotropes et leur utilisation à un niveau populationnel. L’objectif principal de cette thèse était d’évaluer la prévalence de la consommation des médicaments psychotropes chez des personnes âgées de la cohorte SAFES hospitalisées dans un service de court séjour via les urgences. Au total 584 (49,6%) sujets de la cohorte SAFES prenaient au moins un médicament psychotrope. Les anxiolytiques (323 ; 35,1%), les antidépresseurs (263 ; 28,5%) et enfin les hypnotiques et sédatifs (157 ; 17,0%) étaient les catégories les plus consommées. L’inadéquation traitement/diagnostic a concerné 217 sujets (37,1%) qui n’avaient aucun diagnostic correspondant aux indications des médicaments psychotropes. Des mesures de surveillance du médicament ont été renforcées en 2011, la poursuite d’études pharmaco-épidémiologiques doit s’accroitre de façon à mesurer l’évaluation des profils d’exposition des sujets âgés aux médicaments psychotropes. L’évaluation précise du rapport bénéfice/risque représente un enjeu important pour une utilisation rationnelle de la consommation des médicaments psychotropes.

This document offers an approach to assessment that should help you review information that is already available and only collect new data that will be of practical use, depending on your capacity and the phase of the humanitarian crisis. This document is rooted in two policy documents, the IASC Reference Group s (2010) "Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Humanitarian Emergencies: What Should Humanitarian Health Actors Know?" and the "Sphere Handbook's Standard on Mental Health" (Sphere Project, 2011). It is written primarily for public health actors. As the social determinants of mental health and psychosocial problems occur across sectors, half of the tools in the accompanying toolkit cover MHPSS assessment issues relevant to other sectors as well as the health sector.
