Download or read book Consecrated life as self donation to God and to his cause written by Paramavalan Elanko Peter (Father, CMF) and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study is entitled: "Consecrated Life as Self-donation to God and to His cause." Thus, this study is descriptive. God of love and lover of life called the consecrated persons and offer them the necessary grace to respond to His divine initiative in profound freedom and self-surrender. The Church herself, in virtue of her God-given authority, receives the evangelical counsels of Chastity, Poverty and Obedience as loving gift of the Trinity to the consecrated persons who profess this form of life. The consecrated life is self-donation to God and to his kingdom. This dynamic process of self-donation to God is a permanent and lifelong loving gift of oneself to God in faith and inner joy. This state of life strengthens the bond between the consecrated person and Triune God, in the person of Jesus Christ. This bound of divine communion motivates the consecrated person to find his/her personality, identity and mission in Jesus. This study has been done in order to understand to deeper meaning of consecrated life in self-donation to God. This life self-donation is being experienced in living the evangelical counsels in communion and fraternal love in the model of Christ's self-emptying.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Let us dive into the meaning of consecration. Consecration simply means to be set apart. When we read the book of Genesis, we are introduced to two individuals, Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve lived in the garden of Eden where the Lord had provided for them everything they needed in the garden and He would fellowship with them in the garden (Genesis 1:8). This is the first instance where we see God setting apart human beings to have a relationship with Him through fellowship. And this culminates concentration for they were given a rule by God. In order for this consecration to remain, they were not to partake of the forbidden fruit for this in turn would lead to their death (Genesis 2:17) and we all know what happened after, they ate of the forbidden fruit and this in turn led to their separation from the place of consecration with God and they had to live a different life from the life they were set apart of by God. They no longer had a physical relationship with God, where God would physically visit them (Genesis 1:8) Yet God still desired to communion with men for we see that even though they were removed from the garden of Eden, God would still talk with them (Genesis 4) and an element of sacrifice is introduced to them as a form of fellowship with God. And as we continue to read the book of Genesis, we see the calling of Abraham, where he was set apart from his people and taken into a different land that God showed him where he would birth a nation consecrated (set apart) for God. And this nation was none other than Israel. Throughout scripture we see how God was with the people of Israel and how the Israelites were very different from the rest of the nations, who were called gentiles. The Israelites performed different rituals, had festivals, offered sacrifices and believed in only one God and we see that God was with them throughout their journey. The Israelites lived a consecrated life for they were a group chosen by God to show His greatness and reveal His nature to men. It was in these people who God had consecrated for himself that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was birthed into. For God had chosen and consecrated them to Himself and that is why we have up to date the people of Israel and not the people of Moab, Philistia or Canaanites. And it is through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, that we now too who were considered not His people have now become His people (Romans 9:25). We get to enjoy the privilege of becoming God's chosen people, His children, a people set apart/consecrated to and by Him. Oh what a joy it is to be counted as one who serves the Lord Oh what a privilege it is to be counted among the righteous To be deemed a people consecrated before the Lord. Rejoice you sons and daughters Oh rejoice before our King For He is good, great and mighty to be praised.

This book was released on 2018-05-24 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: See I Am Making Something New explores the various ways in which the Life of the Spirit is stirring anew in the Church today in new religious institutes and societies, in diocesan hermits and consecrated virgins, in the new forms of consecrated life, and in the ecclesial movements that bring life and vitality to the Church today, and in fact, may also give rise to new institutes. The book is a guide for those discerning their vocation and their spiritual directors and a pastoral manual diocesan personnel. New Community (Canon 579): We may recognize five stages in the foundation of an institute. A single institute may spend several months, years or decades in each of the stages. The history of religious life testifies that the foundation of an institute is the work of a lifetime, and its progress is not counted in terms of members, or buildings but in terms of the treasures laid up in heaven. Hermits (Canon 603) flourished in the early Christian centuries, even before religious communities organized as we know them today. With the revision of the Code of Canon Law in 1983, this form of life came back into the practice of the church as a canonically approved vocation. The vocation is characterized by a "stricter separation from the world," and by silence and solitude. Canon 603 adds that the hermit professes the traditional three vows of poverty, celibate chastity and obedience. Consecrated Virgins (Canon 604) - Many early Christian writers extol the beauty and power of the Christian virgin in a spousal relationship with Christ, just as the church is spouse of Christ. This allegorical theology held great power and meaning from the early Christian centuries. By the middle ages, the rite of consecration of virgins had been nearly completely incorporated into cloistered monastic life of nuns. In the early twentieth century, individuals and groups began to seek to restore this ancient form of consecration. The revised rite was promulgated in 1970, and it is best source of understanding the vocation of the consecrated virgin. Includes the Instruction Ecclesiae sponsae imago. New Forms (Canon 605) - In recent decades, a new instinct for communion in consecrated life seeks to bring various groups together into a single religious institute, men and women, cleric and lay, married and single. Canon 605 provides the canonical opening for new forms of consecrated life, and most of these new forms manifest this instinct for inclusion. Some have sought formal approval as new institutes or new forms of consecrated life. God moves among us in holy creativity. This book explores they ways in which God is "making something new," in new religious institutes, in newly re-introduced individual forms of consecrated life, the diocesan hermit and the consecrated virgin, and in the new-forms of consecrated life. May we each have the wisdom and courage to live our vocation, and may we love and support each another as we follow our unique vocation, our unique path in the heart of God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consecration is the response of the repentant heart! The repentant Believer consecrate her or himself to the Lord because of what God did for them. Look at what is happening in our world today. There is such a moral decline that we are seeing. The Church has let the world slip in to the point that there is not much difference between a Believer and the world. And you wonder why there is so much division, hatred and craziness! We have chosen the alternative over the truth. Just like the Children of Israel, we have allowed our world to influence us and we have lost our devotion to the Lord! We as a body of Believers, we are no longer consecrated. We must take the path of consecration. We must take a stand and live in a way that shows the world we are set apart. We must live in such a way that will fully persuade people to Christ. Our words mean nothing if our lives don't reflect the truth. This is the only way to turn the path of this mayhem and devastation. We must return to the old paths, reject the world and all it gives. Choose today whom we will serve and then love the Lord our God with all your heart, mind and strength!

Download or read book Consecrated Life written by Anthony Ikechukwu Kanu O S a and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2021-12-09 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2014, the Roman Pontiff, Francis I issued a letter for the Year of Consecrated Life, which started throughout the universal Church on the first Sunday of Advent, 30th November, to end on the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, 2 February 2016, a period of fourteen months. In this document, the Holy Father wrote that: ―During this Year, it would be appropriate for each charismatic family to reflect on its origins and history, in order to thank God who grants the Church a variety of gifts which embellish her and equip her for every good work (cf. Lumen Gentium, 12)‖. From the foregoing, it is evident that recounting our history is essential for preserving our identity, for strengthening our unity as a family and our common sense of belonging. More than an exercise in archaeology or the cultivation of mere nostalgia, it calls for following in the footsteps of past generations in order to grasp the high ideals, and the vision and values which inspired them, beginning with the founders and foundresses and the first communities. In this way we come to see how the charism has been lived over the years, the creativity it has sparked, the difficulties it encountered and the concrete ways those difficulties were surmounted. We may also encounter cases of inconsistency, the result of human weakness and even at times a neglect of some essential aspects of the charism. Yet everything proves instructive and, taken as a whole, acts as a summons to conversion. To tell our story is to praise God and to thank him for all his gifts. It is from this background that the first chapter of this work begins with the history of the Consecrated Life. As a background to this history that dates back concretely to the Eremitic Age, this chapter begins by discussing the typologies of the Religious Life and developing a model for the interpretation of this history. Book The Making of an Ordinary Saint

Download or read book The Making of an Ordinary Saint written by Richard Foster and published by Monarch Books. This book was released on 2014-10-17 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nathan Foster has lived with the spiritual disciplines all his life, but has had to find his own unique path. As he sought - sometimes rebelliously - to develop habits that would enable him to live more like Jesus, he encountered problems both personal and universal. Gradually he discovered creative new ways to practice disciplines such as fasting, meditation and simplicity, to live as Jesus lived. With a foreword from Nathan's father Richard, who provides a fresh introduction to each of the disciplines, The Making of an Ordinary Saint invites us to be formed into the likeness of Christ's character.
