Book From Condemnation to Redemption

Download or read book From Condemnation to Redemption written by Barbara Amajoyi and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-02-09 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Condemnation to Redemption was imagined one beautiful morning while sharing the Word on Periscope TV. The Holy Spirit quickened me to put some of the things I was sharing in writing. Right after the end of the Bible study on this day, my son called me and said, "Mom, I hope you are putting this in writing." The Holy Spirit immediately gave me the title of the book. Jesus Christ came to redeem us from condemnation to redemption. We were condemned when we fell short of God's glory due to sin. But "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). This book reveals the plan of God for humanity as said in Genesis 1:26. Man fell short of that plan due to sin. Jesus came to redeem man from sin and put us back into the right place with God""the place of dominion, authority, and righteousness.

Book Redemption Through the Eyes of the Condemned

Download or read book Redemption Through the Eyes of the Condemned written by John D Montana and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2022-04-13 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not just another commentary on Romans, Redemption through the Eyes of the Condemned makes Paul’s letter come alive with a fresh perspective, from a context reminiscent of Paul’s—that of a convicted felon in prison. The combination of a seminary degree, fourteen years in a state penitentiary, and eight years of teaching Romans affords John Montana the ability to see parallels to prison life that can help all readers grasp Paul’s most theologically dense letter. Not only are terms such as condemnation, justification, redemption, law, patience, and hope all too familiar to the prisoner, concepts such as the old and new realm, the already/not yet tension, and corporate identity dominate in the prison experience. Montana’s surprisingly accurate illustrations connect these terms and concepts to prison life and help clarify not only the more difficult passages in Romans but will stir readers to a reinvigorated viewpoint that will help enrich their devotion to the Lord.

Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE STARRING MICHAEL B. JORDAN AND JAMIE FOXX • A powerful true story about the potential for mercy to redeem us, and a clarion call to fix our broken system of justice—from one of the most brilliant and influential lawyers of our time. “[Bryan Stevenson’s] dedication to fighting for justice and equality has inspired me and many others and made a lasting impact on our country.”—John Legend NAMED ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL BOOKS OF THE DECADE BY CNN • Named One of the Best Books of the Year by The New York Times • The Washington Post • The Boston Globe • The Seattle Times • Esquire • Time Bryan Stevenson was a young lawyer when he founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending those most desperate and in need: the poor, the wrongly condemned, and women and children trapped in the farthest reaches of our criminal justice system. One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn’t commit. The case drew Bryan into a tangle of conspiracy, political machination, and legal brinksmanship—and transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever. Just Mercy is at once an unforgettable account of an idealistic, gifted young lawyer’s coming of age, a moving window into the lives of those he has defended, and an inspiring argument for compassion in the pursuit of true justice. Bryan Stevenson may, indeed, be America’s Mandela.”—Nicholas Kristof, The New York Times “You don’t have to read too long to start cheering for this man. . . . The message of this book . . . is that evil can be overcome, a difference can be made. Just Mercy will make you upset and it will make you hopeful.”—Ted Conover, The New York Times Book Review “Inspiring . . . a work of style, substance and clarity . . . Stevenson is not only a great lawyer, he’s also a gifted writer and storyteller.”—The Washington Post “As deeply moving, poignant and powerful a book as has been, and maybe ever can be, written about the death penalty.”—The Financial Times “Brilliant.”—The Philadelphia Inquirer

Book Consumed by Hate Redeemed by Love

Download or read book Consumed by Hate Redeemed by Love written by Thomas A. Tarrants and published by HarperChristian + ORM. This book was released on 2019-08-06 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Riveting, inspiring, at times hard to believe but utterly true...it gives some measure of hope in these rancorous times." -- John Grisham As an ordinary high school student in the 1960s, Tom Tarrants became deeply unsettled by the social upheaval of the era. In response, he turned for answers to extremist ideology and was soon utterly radicalized. Before long, he became involved in the reign of terror spread by Mississippi's dreaded White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, described by the FBI as the most violent right-wing terrorist organization in America. In 1969, while attempting to bomb the home of a Jewish leader in Meridian, Mississippi, Tom was ambushed by law enforcement and shot multiple times during a high-speed chase. Nearly dead from his wounds, he was arrested and sentenced to thirty years in the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman Farm. Unrepentant, Tom and two other inmates made a daring escape from Parchman yet were tracked down by an FBI SWAT team and apprehended in hail of bullets that killed one of the convicts. Tom spent the next three years alone in a six-foot-by-nine-foot cell. There he began a search for truth that led him to the Bible and a reading of the gospels, resulting in his conversion to Jesus Christ and liberation from the grip of racial hatred and violence. Astounded by the change in Tom, many of the very people who worked to put him behind bars began advocating for his release. After serving eight years of a 35-year sentence, Tom left prison. He attended college, moved to Washington, DC, and became copastor of a racially mixed church. He went on to earn a doctorate and became the president of the C. S. Lewis Institute, where he devoted himself to helping others become wholehearted followers of Jesus. A dramatic story of radical transformation, Consumed by Hate, Redeemed by Love demonstrates that hope is not lost even in the most tumultuous of times, even those similar to our own. "As a kid in Mississippi in the late 1960's, I remember the men of our church discussing the Klan's bombing campaign against the Jews. The men did not disapprove. Later, I would use this fascinating chapter of civil rights history as the backdrop for my novel The Chamber. Now, one of the bombers, Thomas Tarrants, tells the real story in this remarkable memoir. It is riveting, inspiring, at times hard to believe but utterly true, and it gives some measure of hope in these rancorous times." --John Grisham "Dramatic...Simply astonishing...Essential reading for these times. If you want to understand how the evil of extremist thought works--and how the gospel of God’s grace can overcome it--read this book." --Mark Batterson, New York Times bestselling author of The Circle Maker, lead pastor of National Community Church "Amazing...Gives hope for what God can do." --Dr. John Perkins, president emeritus, John Perkins Foundation; co-founder emeritus, Christian Community Development Association "A riveting narrative." --Russell Moore, president, the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention "This gripping and inspiring story is as timely as today’s headlines....Put on your seatbelt and prepare to enter into one of the most extraordinary true stories you’ll ever encounter!" --Lee Strobel, best-selling author of The Case for Christ and The Case for Grace "Reveals how easily a political ideology can grow into a radical, extreme, life-taking worldview, all the while masquerading for some supposed form of a 'Christian' faith....A powerful story!" --Eric C. Redmond, associate professor of Bible, Moody Bible Institute, Chicago

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Goodwin (1593-1665), the eminent Puritan Arminian divine, was a man ahead of his time who lived in a turbulent era in which many principals, both theological and governmental, were subjects of controversy. This new edition of Redemption Redeemed (originally published in 1651), provides a major refutation of the Calvinistic limited atonement doctrine. Goodwin has written an adversarial treatise in which he, step by step, examines the overwhelming scriptural and theological evidence supporting the idea that Christ died for all mankind. He also refutes the opposing arguments of his day and argues that God, through his grace, provides the opportunity for all people to be saved. The Methodist Quarterly Review noted: “Had Redemption Redeemed been his only publication, it should have been enough in itself to perpetuate his (Goodwin's) fame. Its great learning, clear reasoning, sound judgment, and admirable spirit, render it worthy of the study of the lovers of this glorious doctrine, and the name of its author is one which all Arminians should delight to honor. A volume so ably written, and going to the bottom of the controversy, could not in that polemical age fail to create a storm.” In the contemporary period, as Christians enter the 21st Century and Calvinism with its disturbing implications is making a resurgence, Goodwin's masterful work is a welcome and much needed contribution to those seeking to understand the truths of God's word.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monumental commentary on the book of Revelation, originally published in 1999, has been highly acclaimed by scholars, pastors, students, and others seriously interested in interpreting the Apocalypse for the benefit of the church. Too often Revelation is viewed as a book only about the future. As G. K. Beale shows, however, Revelation is not merely a futurology but a book about how the church should live for the glory of God throughout the ages -- including our own. Engaging important questions concerning the interpretation of Revelation in scholarship today, as well as interacting with the various viewpoints scholars hold on these issues, Beale's work makes a major contribution in the much-debated area of how the Old Testament is used in the Apocalypse. Approaching Revelation in terms of its own historical background and literary character, Beale argues convincingly that John's use of Old Testament allusions -- and the way the Jewish exegetical tradition interpreted these same allusions -- provides the key for unlocking the meaning of Revelation's many obscure metaphors. In the course of Beale's careful verse-by-verse exegesis, which also untangles the logical flow of John's thought as it develops from chapter to chapter, it becomes clear that Revelation's challenging pictures are best understood not by apparent technological and contemporary parallels in the twentieth century but by Old Testament and Jewish parallels from the distant past.

Download or read book The Story of Redemption written by William Covert and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-12 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Story of Redemption: From Paradise Lost to Paradise Restored The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Rom.6 : 23.Redemption, in a Scripture sense, and as contemplated in this volume, is the giving of eternal life to a race of beings justly under sentence of eternal death. "By one man Adam sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." Chapter 5:12. Therefore all are by nature under condemnation of death. So also redemption has been offered to every one: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16. But this Gift for man's redemption does not inure to the individual without an unqualified acceptance, on plainly specified terms. There must be belief in the Son. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and "He that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." Verse 36. Another condition is, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1 :9. Then our short existence or probation in this world is a matter of life or death to all eternity. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
