Download or read book No tan r pido written by Tim Hollister and published by Chicago Review Press. This book was released on 2015-09-01 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most driving literature for parents focuses on how to teach a teen to drive, without explaining why teen driving is so dangerous in the first place or giving parents a plan to preempt the hazards teens face. By contrast, No tan rápido empowers and guides parents to understand the causes and situations that most often lead to teen crashes and to take specific, proactive steps—before and each time a teen driver gets behind the wheel—to counteract them. This authoritative guide tackles hot button issues such as texting and distracted driving, parenting attitudes (conscious and unconscious), and teen impairment and fatigue—and includes a combination of topics not found in other teen driving guides, such as: How brain development affects driving Why driver's ed does not produce safe drivers How and why to prepare a "flight plan" for each drive before handing over the keys How and when to say no Proceeds from the sale of this book support the Reid Samuel Hollister Memorial Fund, which subsidizes infant and toddler education in greater Hartford, Connecticut, and worthy traffic safety causes.

Download or read book Impact Evaluation in Practice La Evaluaci n de Impacto en la Pr ctica written by Paul J. Gertler and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2011-06-13 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an accessible introduction to the topic of impact evaluation and its practice in development. While the book is geared principally towards development practitioners and policymakers designing prospective impact evaluations, we trust that it will be a valuable resource for students and others interested in using impact evaluation. Prospective impact evaluations should be used selectively to assess whether or not a program has achieved its intended results, or to test alternatives for achieving those results. We consider that more and better impact evaluation will help strengthen the evidence base for development policies and programs around the world. If governments and development practitioners can make policy decisions based on evidence - including evidence generated through impact evaluation - our hope is that development resources will be spent more effectively, and ultimately have a greater impact on reducing poverty and improving people's lives. The three chapters in this handbook provide a non-technical introduction to impact evaluations, including “Why Evaluate” in Chapter 1, “How to Evaluate” in Chapter 2 and “How to Implement Impact Evaluations” in Chapter 3. These elements are the basic ‘tools' needed in order to successfully carry out an impact evaluation. From a methodological standpoint our approach to impact evaluation is largely pragmatic: we think that the most appropriate methods should be identified to fit the operational context, and not the other way around. This is best achieved at the outset of the program, through the design of prospective impact evaluation that can be built into the project's implementation. We argue that gaining consensus between key stakeholders and identifying an evaluation design that fits the political and operational context is as important as the method itself. We also believe strongly that impact evaluations should be upfront about their limitations and caveats. Finally, we strongly encourage policymakers and program managers to consider impact evaluations in a logical framework that clearly sets out the causal pathways by which the program works to produce outputs and influence final outcomes, and to combine impact evaluations with monitoring and selected complementary evaluation approach to gain a full picture of performance. This book builds on a core set of teaching materials developed for the “Turning Promises to Evidence” workshops organized by the office of the Chief Economist for Human Development (HDNCE) in partnership with regional units and the Development Economics Research Group (DECRG) at the World Bank.

This book was released on 2020-05-19 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of the Journal of Latin American Theology and the fall 2019 volume are dedicated to providing an up-to-date analysis of Christianity in current Latin American societies. This issue focuses on selections from the Caribbean and South America. An excellent array of Christian leaders representing these regions have risen to the task. First, they situate readers in the contemporary political and social context of their country. Next, they describe contemporary Christianity in their nation, both Protestant and Catholic, as the respective churches respond to their national challenges. Then they explore what followers of Jesus in their countries would want to share with the larger worldwide church and what Christians in their nations need to learn from Christian sisters and brothers from around the globe. An introductory overview of recent religious changes throughout Latin America, written by Fernando Bullon, sets the stage to help us understand the context of Protestantism in the region. The Dominican Republic is covered by Perfecto Jacinto Sanchez; Panama by Marina Medina Moreno and Jocabed Solano; Ecuador by Rodrigo Riffo; Bolivia by Eva Morales and Drew Jennings-Grisham; Brazil by Marcus de Matos; Paraguay by Flavio Florentin; Argentina by Juan Jose Barreda and Diana Medina Gonzalez; and Chile by Luis Cruz-Villalobos. This volume, together with the second issue of 2019, will make an excellent textbook in universities and seminaries for all who want to understand Latin American Christianity today. We pray that these country studies lead readers to prayers of solidarity and reflection upon how God is walking among us in our various contexts.
