Book Precast Concrete Structures

Download or read book Precast Concrete Structures written by Kim S. Elliott and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-08-08 with total page 823 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition of Precast Concrete Structures introduces the conceptual design ideas for the prefabrication of concrete structures and presents a number of worked examples that translate designs from BS 8110 to Eurocode EC2, before going into the detail of the design, manufacture, and construction of precast concrete multi-storey buildings. Detailed structural analysis of precast concrete and its use is provided and some details are presented of recent precast skeletal frames of up to forty storeys. The theory is supported by numerous worked examples to Eurocodes and European Product Standards for precast reinforced and prestressed concrete elements, composite construction, joints and connections and frame stability, together with extensive specifications for precast concrete structures. The book is extensively illustrated with over 500 photographs and line drawings.

Book Concrete Structure Management Guide to Ownership and Good Practice

Download or read book Concrete Structure Management Guide to Ownership and Good Practice written by fib Fédération internationale du béton and published by fib Fédération internationale du béton. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Construction projects are undertaken to meet a variety of business, service and aspirational objectives and needs. The success of a building or an element of infrastructure depends on how well it meets the owner's needs and interests or those of the users. Recent changes in owner attitudes to construction are reflected in an increasing interest in through-life costs, i.e. not only the capital costs of construction but also the operational costs associated with a structure's functional performance for a defined life span. The owner can greatly improve the likelihood of achieving the value they seek from the facility by being intimately and effectively involved in the definition of performance requirements at the start of the construction procurement process. The objective of fib Bulletin 44 is to provide guidance to owners of concrete structures on: the management of their concrete structures (buildings and infrastructure) as part of their business goals or the service objectives of their organization; best practice in the management of concrete structures; their responsibilities with respect to the management of their concrete structures; the wider context and issues of service life design; information and direction needed by the supporting professional team of architects, engineers, specifiers, contractors and others. This Guide also provides background information on topics such as deterioration processes and technical procedures used for the management of concrete structures, including reference to international standards for the protection and repair of concrete structures. These activities are illustrated by application examples/case histories and by a section addressing frequently asked questions. A brief review is made of some potential future developments.

Book GB T 50476 2019 English Translation of Chinese Standard

Download or read book GB T 50476 2019 English Translation of Chinese Standard written by https://www.codeofchina.com and published by https://www.codeofchina.com. This book was released on with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1 General provisions 1.0.1 This standard is formulated in order to ensure the durability of concrete structures to fulfill the specified design working life and ensure the reasonable working life of engineering structures. 1.0.2 This standard is applicable to durability design of ordinary concrete structures and their members in house buildings, bridges, tunnels and other infrastructures and general structures in various natural environments. This standard does not take into account the degradation of structural performance caused by low-cyclic reversed load and sustained load, and is thus not applicable to structures made of light aggregate concrete, fiber concrete, and other special concrete types, nor the design of concrete structure durability in special corrosive environments such as high temperature and high humidity environment, microbial corrosive environment, electromagnetic environment, high pressure environment, stray current and the like in industrial production. 1.0.3 The durability provisions of this standard are the minimum requirements to make the structure fulfill the design working life with the specified assurance rate. The design may be appropriately improved according to the specific characteristics of the project, local environmental conditions and practical experience, and specific construction conditions. 1.0.4 In addition to this standard, the design of concrete structure durability shall also comply with those stipulated in the current relevant standards of China.
