Book Manures and Fertilizers

Download or read book Manures and Fertilizers written by A.K. Kolay and published by Atlantic Publishers & Dist. This book was released on 2007 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite The Considerable Progress Made In Enhancing The Capacity Of Soils To Produce Crops Through The Use Of Manures And Fertilizers, There Are Yet A Large Number Of Ignorant Peasants In Many Asian Countries, Including India, Who Have Been Growing Crops Without Applying Adequate Amounts Of Manures And Fertilizers To Their Crop Fields And Consequently Obtaining Considerably Less Yields. It Needs To Be Realized By One And All That Soil, Particularly In The Developing Countries, Has To Be Fertile Enough If Their Ever-Increasing Huge Population Is To Be Adequately Fed And Clothed. Accordingly, Knowledge Of Farmyard Manure, Compost, Fertilizers And Other Agricultural By-Products And Their Applications Is Indispensable. The Present Book Is A Sincere Effort In Disseminating Information On Manures And Fertilizers. Primarily Designed As A Textbook, Its Wide Coverage Includes Varied Manures And Their Preparation And Effects; And Production And Consumption Of Various Fertilizers Along With The Detailed Elucidation Of Their Properties, Uses, Advantages And Disadvantages. Application Of Both Manures And Fertilizers Separately And In Combination Has Been Explained In Depth In Reference To Individual Crops Of Extensive Variety. It Analyses The Applied Aspects Of Fertilizers And Manures In Their Entirety And Suggests How To Adjust Them To Particular Soil And Particular Style Of Farming. The Book Is Well Supplemented With References And Indexes Which Will Prove Useful Study-Aids To Readers. Owing To Its Reader-Friendly Approach To The Subject, Simple Language And Lucid Style, The Book Is Accessible Even To Average Readers. Book Nutrients for Sugar Beet Production

Download or read book Nutrients for Sugar Beet Production written by Arthur Philip Draycott and published by CABI. This book was released on 2003 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a summary of world sugar production from beets, the authors cover the plant's need of each macro and micronutrient and effects on growth, yield and crop quality. The soil's supply of nutrients is examined as the basis for use of mineral fertilizers, organic manures and foliar applications. The book provides an up-to-date review of relevant research and the authors draw out practical guidelines so that all concerned with growing the crop can make use of this latest information. The book is destined to become the standard reference on the subject for many years to come. It represents the only significant work in English since Dr. Draycott's earlier title on the same subject, published 30 years ago.

Book Animal Manure on Grassland and Fodder Crops Fertilizer or Waste

Download or read book Animal Manure on Grassland and Fodder Crops Fertilizer or Waste written by H.G. van der Meer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the occasion of its twenty-fifth anniversary, in 1985, the Netherlands Society for Grassland and Fodder Crops (NVWV) agreed to organize an International Symposium on a topic related to intensive grass and fodder production systems. The theme selected was "Animal manure on grassland and fodder crops: Fertilizer or waste?" This Symposium was organized under the auspices of the European Grassland Federation and held at the International Agricultural Centre in Wageningen from 31 August to 3 September 1987. The problems connected with the disposal of animal waste have received much attention in recent years, especially in regions with intensive animal of animal manure per hectare agricul husbandry. Whereas the production tural land increased strongly, the need for it decreased because of the introduction of cheap inorganic fertilizers which are easier to handle and have a more reliable effect on crop growth. As a consequence, many farmers dispose of animal manure as cheaply as possible, whilst avoiding damage to grassland and crops and paying little attention to effective use of the plants nutrients contained in the manure. Present practices of manure handling and application often lead to environmental problems. The rise in awareness of these problems renewed interest in possibilities to improve the utilization of nutrients from animal manure in crop production. Research on this topic has been stimulated in many countries during the last decade and the aim of this Symposium was to review and assess present-day knowledge.
