Download or read book Mod lisation et analyse de syst mes embarqu s written by KORDON Fabrice and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2013-04-01 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Robotique flexible Manipulation multi chelle written by GROSSARD Mathieu and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2013-07-01 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Balanced Automation Systems written by Luis M. Camarinha-Matos and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-06-05 with total page 465 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Towards Balanced Automation The concept. Manufacturing industries worldwide are facing tough challenges as a consequence of the globalization of economy and the openness of the markets. Progress of the economic blocks such as the European Union, NAFTA, and MERCOSUR, and the global agreements such as GATT, in addition to their obvious economic and social consequences, provoke strong paradigm shifts in the way that the manufacturing systems are conceived and operate. To increase profitability and reduce the manufacturing costs, there is a recent tendency towards establishing partnership links among the involved industries, usually between big industries and the networks of components' suppliers. To benefit from the advances in technology, similar agreements are being established between industries and universities and research institutes. Such an open tete-cooperation network may be identified as an extended enterprise or a virtual enterprise. In fact, the manufacturing process is no more carried out by a single enterprise, rather each enterprise is just a node that adds some value (a step in the manufacturing chain) to the cooperation network of enterprises. The new trends create new scenarios and technological challenges, especially to the Small and Medium size Enterprises (SMEs) that clearly comprise the overwhelming majority of manufacturing enterprises worldwide. Under the classical scenarios, these SMEs would have had big difficulties to access or benefit from the state of the art technology, due to their limited human, financial, and material resources.
Download or read book Simulation and Modeling of Systems of Systems written by Pascal Cantot and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-04 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Systems engineering is the design of a complex interconnection of many elements (a system) to maximize a specific measure of system performance. It consists of two parts: modeling, in which each element of the system and its performance criteria are described; and optimization in which adjustable elements are tailored to allow peak performance. Systems engineering is applied to vast numbers of problems in industry and the military. An example of systems engineering at work is the control of the timing of thousands of city traffic lights to maximize traffic flow. The complex and intricate field of electronics and computers is perfectly suited for systems engineering analysis and in turn, advances in communications and computer technology have made more advanced systems engineering problems solvable. Thus, the two areas fed off of one another. This book is a basic introduction to the use of models and methods in the engineering design of systems. It is aimed at students as well as practicing engineers. The concept of the "systems of systems" is discussed extensively, after a critical comparison of the different definitions and a range of various practical illustrations. It also provides key answers as to what a system of systems is and how its complexity can be mastered.

Download or read book Multiphysics Modelling and Simulation for Systems Design and Monitoring written by Mohamed Haddar and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-01-03 with total page 551 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reports on the state of the art in the field of multiphysics systems. It consists of accurately reviewed contributions to the MMSSD’2014 conference, which was held from December 17 to 19, 2004 in Hammamet, Tunisia. The different chapters, covering new theories, methods and a number of case studies, provide readers with an up-to-date picture of multiphysics modeling and simulation. They highlight the role played by high-performance computing and newly available software in promoting the study of multiphysics coupling effects, and show how these technologies can be practically implemented to bring about significant improvements in the field of design, control and monitoring of machines. In addition to providing a detailed description of the methods and their applications, the book also identifies new research issues, challenges and opportunities, thus providing researchers and practitioners with both technical information to support their daily work and a new source of inspiration for their future research.
Download or read book Intelligent Patient Management written by Sally McClean and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-03-04 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arguably medicine is either an arts-based science or a science-based art. In medieval times, clinical decisions were based on simple measures, such as the temperature of the body, the rhythm of the pulse, the consistency of the stool and the colour of the urine. Nowadays, thanks partly to modern technology, medical science has improved in many ways, as has healthcare. In particular, approaches which have their origins in Artificial Intelligence and Operational Research have a significant contribution to make in terms of improving not only diagnosis and treatment of patients, but also providing ways of managing patients in a more effective, more efficient, and more patient-friendly manner. This book focuses on the use of such Intelligent Patient Management to the benefit of clinicians, other healthcare and community practitioners and managers, patients and carers.
