Book Mixed Mode Simulation

Download or read book Mixed Mode Simulation written by Resve A. Saleh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our purpose in writing this book was two-fold. First, we wanted to compile a chronology of the research in the field of mixed-mode simulation over the last ten to fifteen years. A substantial amount of work was done during this period of time but most of it was published in archival form in Masters theses and Ph. D. dissertations. Since the interest in mixed-mode simulation is growing, and a thorough review of the state-of-the-art in the area was not readily available, we thought it appropriate to publish the information in the form of a book. Secondly, we wanted to provide enough information to the reader so that a proto type mixed-mode simulator could be developed using the algorithms in this book. The SPLICE family of programs is based on the algorithms and techniques described in this book and so it can also serve as docu mentation for these programs. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS The authors would like to dedicate this book to Prof. D. O. Peder son for inspiring this research work and for providing many years of support and encouragement The authors enjoyed many fruitful discus sions and collaborations with Jim Kleckner, Young Kim, Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli, and Jacob White, and we thank them for their contributions. We also thank the countless others who participated in the research work and read early versions of this book. Lillian Beck provided many useful suggestions to improve the manuscript. Yun cheng Ju did the artwork for the illustrations.

Book Switching Mode Circuit Analysis and Design Innovative Methodology by Novel Solitary Electromagnetic Wave Theory

Download or read book Switching Mode Circuit Analysis and Design Innovative Methodology by Novel Solitary Electromagnetic Wave Theory written by Hirokazu Tohya and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I joined NEC in 1968 and was assigned to the circuit development department of the computer division. My first work was the circuit design of the switching mode power supply (SMPS) for the mainframe of the computer system. My job area was expanded to development of the design rule and to standardization of all over the electric and electronics parts for the non-logic circuit. Non-logic circuit was categorized to except the gate-array which forms the logic circuit of the mainframe. The experiment of SMPS was considered to be dangerousness and no one wanted to design. Therefore, my development of the power supply system (PSS) including the circuit design of SMPS was continued. The electric current of the mainframe and the supercomputer was reached to several thousand amperes. The critical problem of PSS was the heat dissipation and the electromagnetic interference (EMI) against the logic circuit. In 1992, the full-scale R&D of EMC became necessary hastily. I was nominated and transferred to the chief managing researcher of the established EMC engineering center in NEC Laboratories. I had believed that the switching mode circuit (SMC) including the digital circuit and SMPS circuit will be improved greatly if the EMC problem is solved. However the deep R&D was difficult because the actual fruits in every year were required strongly. Therefore, his knowledge of the science concerning EMC was not deepened enough. However I could understand the actual status of technologies of the electronics and electrics widely and the basic knowledge about how to approach the science as well as R&D could be learned. During this time, I completed PhD course and received the PhD. degree from Kyushu University, lectured in Kyushu University and Tohoku University for one year each, and executed several national projects by the cooperation of his colleague in NEC and of the supporters in the industrial society and academia. These are considered to be my best harvest in NEC Laboratories. I had decided to continue R&D for solving EMC problem of SMC after his retirement and to try the commercialization of the fruit of R&D. I established ICAST which is the abbreviation of the innovative circuit and system technologies in 2005. The solitary electromagnetic (SEMW) theory was advocated and the novel technologies including the low impedance lossy line (LILL) and the matched impedance lossy line (MILL) were invented based on the SEMW theory. Two purposes exist in this eBook. The first is to be validated the SEMW theory by the academia and the industrial society. The second is the contribution to the growth of the industry in the world by the technologies of LILL and MILL.

Book Modeling Digital Switching Circuits with Linear Algebra

Download or read book Modeling Digital Switching Circuits with Linear Algebra written by Mitchell A. Thornton and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modeling Digital Switching Circuits with Linear Algebra describes an approach for modeling digital information and circuitry that is an alternative to Boolean algebra. While the Boolean algebraic model has been wildly successful and is responsible for many advances in modern information technology, the approach described in this book offers new insight and different ways of solving problems. Modeling the bit as a vector instead of a scalar value in the set {0, 1} allows digital circuits to be characterized with transfer functions in the form of a linear transformation matrix. The use of transfer functions is ubiquitous in many areas of engineering and their rich background in linear systems theory and signal processing is easily applied to digital switching circuits with this model. The common tasks of circuit simulation and justification are specific examples of the application of the linear algebraic model and are described in detail. The advantages offered by the new model as compared to traditional methods are emphasized throughout the book. Furthermore, the new approach is easily generalized to other types of information processing circuits such as those based upon multiple-valued or quantum logic; thus providing a unifying mathematical framework common to each of these areas. Modeling Digital Switching Circuits with Linear Algebra provides a blend of theoretical concepts and practical issues involved in implementing the method for circuit design tasks. Data structures are described and are shown to not require any more resources for representing the underlying matrices and vectors than those currently used in modern electronic design automation (EDA) tools based on the Boolean model. Algorithms are described that perform simulation, justification, and other common EDA tasks in an efficient manner that are competitive with conventional design tools. The linear algebraic model can be used to implement common EDA tasks directly upon a structural netlist thus avoiding the intermediate step of transforming a circuit description into a representation of a set of switching functions as is commonly the case when conventional Boolean techniques are used. Implementation results are provided that empirically demonstrate the practicality of the linear algebraic model.

Book Circuit Analysis Simulation and Design

Download or read book Circuit Analysis Simulation and Design written by Albert E. Ruehli and published by North Holland. This book was released on 1987 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers algorithmic aspects of computer aided circuit design for VLSI of large circuits. The large scale aspect of VLSI requires a reorientation towards new and more efficient techniques. Many algorithms have survived the test of time, while others are suffering from the usual problem of polynominal or exponential running time complexity and storage requirements. The approaches presented in this book are techniques which were developed in response to the VLSI problems. The most recent ``exact'' circuit analysis and simulation techniques are presented, such as waveform relaxation and timing simulation. The book concentrates on the analysis and simulation of large circuits which exceed the capabilities of general purpose analyzers in both compute time and storage. Also discussed are circuit models for switch level simulation, techniques and circuit models for interconnections, capacitance and inductances and optimization techniques. The language and notation have been kept uniform throughout the book to help the reader to maintain the continuity between the topics discussed in the different chapters. All algorithms are written in a Pascal style. The terminology used should reflect the emerging language used in most of the VLSI circuit design community. The book includes proven approaches as well as techniques which are presently in a research state.
