Book Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations Volume 2

Download or read book Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations Volume 2 written by Steven V. Ley and published by Pergamon. This book was released on 2003-04-04 with total page 1251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Volume describes all methods for the synthesis of compounds containing a carbon atom singly bonded to a heteroatom substituent. The Volume is arranged in three parts dealing with sp3, sp2 and sp carbon linked to the heteroatoms. For each section careful attention has been given to various features such as substitution patterns, ring effects, strain effects, neighbouring functionality, stereochemistry, etc. which could mediate the synthesis pathway. Emphasis has also been given to the most convenient and practical preparation of the various functional groups. Critical assessment of the procedures allows the reader to select methods most appropriate for their needs. In this Volume the heteroatom may also be metallic and therefore reflect a highly polarised bonding arrangement with the carbon substituent. Compounds containing single bonds between carbon and heterofunctional groups constitute the largest class and most commonly transformed organic functional groups.

Book Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations

Download or read book Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations written by Alan R. Katritzky and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2003-03-21 with total page 1470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Volume, which is in three parts, includes some of the most important functional groups of organic chemistry. Part I deals with the synthesis of carboxylic acids and their derivatives (acid halides, esters, amides etc.) together with their imino-, thio-, seleno and telluro analogues. Part II covers cumulenes such as isocyanates, isothiocyanates, carbodiimides and related compounds, whilst Part III deals with triply bonded functional groups.

Download or read book Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations written by Alan R. Katritzky and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995 with total page 1452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Volume covers the formation of carbon-carbon single-, double- and triple bonds by substitution and addition reactions as well as by various rearrangements. The formation of carbon-carbon multiple bonds by elimination and condensation procedures is fully documented. In addition the synthesis of carbon-hydrogen bonds principally by substitution and addition reactions is featured as is the preparation of a wide variety of carbon-centred anions, cations and radicals.

Download or read book Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations written by Alan R. Katritzky and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2003-03-21 with total page 964 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A vast range of different functional groups is potentially available from the attachment of three or four heteroatoms to carbon. Some of these are abundantly represented in the literature, others are rare, and many have yet to be described. The aim of this volume is to describe the synthesis of examples of known functional groups and to highlight those that are little known or unknown. All possible combinations of heteroatoms have been surveyed, with the exception of complexes in which carbon atoms are bonded only to transition elements. The material is organised in four parts: tetracoordinated carbon atoms bearing three attached heteroatoms are covered in Part 1, and those bearing four heteroatoms in Part II; the synthesis of tricoordinated carbon atoms with three attached heteroatoms is described in Part III; stabilized radicals and carbocations with three attached heteroatoms are covered briefly in Part IV.

Book Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations II

Download or read book Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations II written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-12-16 with total page 10504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations II (COFGT-II) will provide the first point of entry to the literature for all scientists interested in chemical transformations. Presenting the vast subject of organic synthesis in terms of the introduction and interconversion of all known functional groups, COFGT-II provides a unique information source documenting all methods of efficiently performing a particular transformation. Organised by the functional group formed, COFGT-II consists of 144 specialist reviews, written by leading scientists who evaluate and summarise the methods available for each functional group transformation. Also available online via ScienceDirect – featuring extensive browsing, searching, and internal cross-referencing between articles in the work, plus dynamic linking to journal articles and abstract databases, making navigation flexible and easy. For more information, pricing options and availability visit www.info.sciencedirect.com. By systematically treating each functional group in turn the work also identifies what is not known, thus pointing the way to new research areas Follows the systematic layout of the successful 1995 COFGT reference work, based on the arrangement and bonding of hetero-atoms around a central carbon atom The work will save researchers valuable time in their research as each chapter is written by experts who have critically read and reviewed the literature and presented the best methods of forming every known functional group
