Book excerpt: Excerpt from Compendium of Human Histology I have prepared M. Morel's Compendium of Histology for the use of the American medical student in consequence of the excellence and fidelity of its plates, and the clear and concise manner in which all that is positively known of the science, up to the present moment, is set forth in the text. An original work of the same character and similarly illustrated would involve a much greater expense, even if the same degree of merit could have been attained. Histology, at the present day, is the progressive department of anatomical science, and its rapidly accumulating facts form the basis of modem physiology and pathology. Still in its youth, it is advancing steadily from year to year, and to keep pace with its progress, we must draw constantly upon all reliable sources of information. Book The Essential Human Anatomy Compendium

Download or read book The Essential Human Anatomy Compendium written by H. P. Doyle and published by . This book was released on 2008-10-01 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Congratulations! You have taken a major positive step toward excelling in your college-level (or advanced high school level) Human Anatomy course. Welcome to the First Edition of The Essential Human Anatomy Compendium, which is a study guide in the format of lecture outline notes compiled from different instructors. How is our study guide different from others already in publication? The format of this book is the outline form, which lends itself to easy perusing. KEY WORDS or PHRASES are EMPHASIZED VISUALLY and as CONCISELY as possible, in order to break up the monotony, which is often seen in long-winded textbooks. Though the goal is brevity, these outline notes still provide COPIOUS INFORMATION, which is not represented in other study guides in existence. The approach of this study guide is to allow the student to comprehend the gist of basic anatomical concepts. This study guide is organized into five key sections: (1) Introductory and Microscopic Anatomy, including cytology (cell study) and histology (tissue study); (2) Skeletal Anatomy, including axial and appendicular skeletal anatomy and accessory structures; (3) Muscular Anatomy, focusing on the origin, insertion, and action of key muscles required for most students to learn; (4) Neuroanatomy, including the Central Nervous System (brain and spinal cord), Peripheral Nervous System (including critical Autonomic Nervous System features), and general and special Sensory Anatomy; and (5) Systemic Anatomy, targeting the eleven human body organ systems and their components. Additionally, The Essential Human Anatomy Compendium includes sample multiple-choice questions, which will prepare you for the key levels of anatomy examquestions. These questions have been developed by various instructors from several disciplines. For Instructors: Answer sheets to the questions are also provided after each set of questions so that students may complete them and submit them for instructor review (and perhaps for credit). How to use The Essential Human Anatomy Compendium: Due to the nature of this book, it should be utilized as a key study tool prior to course exams, prior to, after and/or during class lectures, or it may be used as a remedial preparation tool for Board exams in various disciplines. Whether your academic training specialty is in Nursing, Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Occupational or Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, or Pharmacy et.al, you will undoubtedly find The Essential Human Anatomy Compendium a useful tool, which will help you to excel in the subject of anatomy. Good luck on your journey of discovery! H.P. Doyle

Book Compendium of Histology

Download or read book Compendium of Histology written by Anders Rehfeld and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-09-07 with total page 670 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has been designed to help medical students succeed with their histology classes, while using less time on studying the curriculum. The book can both be used on its own or as a supplement to the classical full-curriculum textbooks normally used by the students for their histology classes. Covering the same curriculum as the classical textbooks, from basic tissue histology to the histology of specific organs, this book is formatted and organized in a much simpler and intuitive way. Almost all text is formatted in bullets or put into structured tables. This makes it quick and easy to digest, helping the student get a good overview of the curriculum. It is easy to locate specific information in the text, such as the size of cellular structures etc. Additionally, each chapter includes simplified illustrations of various histological features. The aim of the book is to be used to quickly brush up on the curriculum, e.g. before a class or an exam. Additionally, the book includes guides to distinguish between the different histological tissues and organs that can be presented to students microscopically, e.g. during a histology spot test. This guide lists the specific characteristics of the different histological specimens and also describes how to distinguish a specimen from other similar specimens. For each histological specimen, a simplified drawing and a photomicrograph of the specimen, is presented to help the student recognize the important characteristics in the microscope. Lastly, the book contains multiple “memo boxes” in which parts of the curriculum are presented as easy-to-remember mnemonics.
