Book Fractal Growth Phenomena

Download or read book Fractal Growth Phenomena written by Tam s Vicsek and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The investigation of phenomena involving fractals has gone through a spectacular development in the last decade. Many physical, technological and biological processes have been shown to be related to and described by objects with non-integer dimensions. The physics of far-from-equilibrium growth phenomena represents one of the most important fields in which fractal geometry is widely applied. During the last couple of years considerable experimental, numerical and theoretical information has accumulated concerning such processes. This book, written by a well-known expert in the field, summarizes the basic concepts born in the studies of fractal growth and also presents some of the most important new results for more specialized readers. It also contains 15 beautiful color plates demonstrating the richness of the geometry of fractal patterns. Accordingly, it may serve as a textbook on the geometrical aspects of fractal growth and it treats this area in sufficient depth to make it useful as a reference book. No specific mathematical knowledge is required for reading this book which is intended to give a balanced account of the field.

Book Foundations of Antennas

Download or read book Foundations of Antennas written by Per-Simon Kildal and published by Professional Pub Service. This book was released on 2000-01-01 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a modern textbook. The formulas for the radiation fields from different antennas are expressed in a compact and unified way by means of the direct vector integral relations between fields and currents. Thereby the formulas become easy to apply and interpret. The Moment Method is introduced as a basic principle in field theory, and it is used together with the equivalence principle to derive the classical formulas in antenna theory. The book comes with a CD-ROM. This contains the over 50 computer programs which have been used to produce the results in all the graphs in the book. These computer programs are referred to as Mathcad Documents. They can be run without buying extra software, and without having any previous knowledge of Mathcad. The Mathcad Documents provided can be used for initial designs of dipole, slot, microstrip, horn, reflector and array antennas (by classical formulas). Good initial designs will reduce the time and cost needed for fine tuning of performance with more advanced CAD software. The Mathcad Documents can also be used to validate other software. The CD-ROM also contains HTML slides of all the material in the book.

Book Printed Antennas for Wireless Communications

Download or read book Printed Antennas for Wireless Communications written by Rod Waterhouse and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-03-11 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Printed antennas, also known as microstrip antennas, have a variety of beneficial properties including mechanical durability, conformability, compactness and cheap manufacturing costs. Printed Antennas for Wireless Communications offers a practical guide to state-of-the-art printed antenna technology used for wireless systems. Contributions from renowned global experts within both academia and industry enable the reader to design printed antennas and associated technologies, and offer valuable insights into important breakthroughs in these areas. Divided into 3 sections covering fundamental wideband printed radiating elements for wireless systems, small printed antennas for wireless systems, and advanced concepts and applications in wireless systems. Provides experimental data and applies theoretical models to present design performance trends and to give the reader an in-depth coverage of the area. Presents summaries of different approaches used in solving wireless systems such as WPAN (wireless personal area network) and MIMO (multi-input/ multi-output), offering the reader an overall perspective of the pros and cons of each. Focuses on practical design, examples and ‘real world’ solutions. Printed Antennas for Wireless Communications offers an excellent insight on printed antennas from the theoretical to the practical; hence it will appeal to practicing design engineers within commercial and governmental/ military organistations, as well as postagraduate students and researchers in communications technology

Book Metamaterials and Their Applications

Download or read book Metamaterials and Their Applications written by Dharani Sabba and published by Arcler Press. This book was released on 2017-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artificial materials such as metamaterials are gaining interest in research area in recent years owing to their extraordinary properties as implied by the word "Meta" meaning "beyond" in Greek. These metamaterials constitute periodic or nonperiodic subwavelength macro cells which exhibit properties based on the design of the macro units resulting in special materials that do not exist in nature. Though the metamaterials have achieved significant breakthroughs in theory, application of these materials requires considerable progress. Some recent advances in terms of their application comprise of revolutionary electronics, filtering of sound and light, biosensors, absorbers of electromagnetic radiation, antennas with improved performance, invisible submarines etc. These metamaterials are classified into electromagnetic (EM), chiral, tetrahertz, photonic metamaterials, tunable metamaterials with the ability to modify the frequency of refractive index, frequency selective surfaces and nonlinear metamaterials. EMs are chiefly used for optical and microwave applications such as band-pass filters, lenses, microwave couplers, antenna radomes, etc. Some of the salient characteristics of these materials are their ability to control the direction of electromagnetic radiation, achieve enhanced bandwidth and radiated power and reduce the beam-width and return loss in contrast to the conventional antennas. As the field of metamaterials is interesting and has potential for next generation applications, in this book, a compilation of research articles and reviews showcasing the synthesis, properties, numerical models and the application of these metamaterials in various fields has been illustrated. Chapters 1-6 are compilation of research and invited articles manifesting the various synthesis routes of metamaterials with chapters 4-6 focusing on the theoretical models used for the fabrication of these materials while chapters 7-9 highlight the properties of the metamaterials. The final chapters 10-17 acquaint the reader with the numerous applications of the metamaterials such as lens, absorber materials, sensors, antennas, etc. Chapter 11 is a review on the theory and application of tunable metamaterials. As this book comprises of research articles ranging from synthesis to numerical modeling of metamaterials, it will appeal to audience with strong inclination towards physics, computer simulations, material science and electronics. Also as these metamaterials are important in many defense applications, the reader will find this book compelling to research extensively and adopt these materials into advanced technologies for the safety and progress of one's nation.
