Book Collective Phenomena in Synchrotron Radiation Sources

Download or read book Collective Phenomena in Synchrotron Radiation Sources written by Shaukat Khan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-01-19 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book helps dispel the notion that collective phenomena, which have become increasingly important in modern storage rings, are an obscure and inaccessible topic. The book serves as a valuable guide on how to improve synchrotrons and other storage rings. Despite an emphasis on synchrotron light sources, the basic concepts presented here are valid for other facilities as well.

Book Synchrotron Radiation Sources A Primer

Download or read book Synchrotron Radiation Sources A Primer written by Herman Winick and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-02-28 with total page 529 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialists in the technical components of a synchrotron light source are usually well versed in their field and in the associated technical literature. However, with the rapid and continuing growth of synchrotron radiation research, and with new facilities coming online and being authorized for design and construction around the world, there is a need for a reference book that describes the various technical components of a synchrotron light source in a manner that will be useful to those who lack specialized technical background, but who have responsibility for some part of the design, construction, operation or development of such a facility. This would include technicians, engineers and physicists who have technical background in related fields but no specific experience with a synchrotron light source, and also project managers, laboratory directors, and government officials involved with synchrotron light facilities.College level scientific or engineering training or the equivalent experience is assumed and appropriate mathematics is used throughout. However, the basic concepts in each chapter are given in less technical language and a glossary of terms as well as an index will make the book useful for those with less technical training or experience.

Book Compact EUV and X ray Light Sources Enabled by Relativistic Electron Beams

Download or read book Compact EUV and X ray Light Sources Enabled by Relativistic Electron Beams written by Ivan Gadjev and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern X-ray light sources generate synchrotron radiation from relativistic free electrons passing through magnet arrays such as undulators. The frequency of the radiation scales quadratically with the energy of the electrons. Conventional RF accelerators have limited accelerating gradients that make reaching electron energies capable of producing hard X-rays a dicult engineering demand that requires hundreds of meters of linac sections. Next generation light sources aim to compactify the current sources by employing high gradient advanced accelerators and very short period undulators. Small footprint, narrow bandwidth X-ray sources can have a large impact on X-ray science and its applications ranging from the medical eld to material science to the interrogation of the nuclear structure of matter. In this dissertation, two approaches to the scaling down of X-ray sources are taken up. The performance of a free electron laser (FEL) based on sub-mm period undulators is studied on theoretical grounds. The experimental realization of an all-optical scheme is demonstrated. The output electron beam of an inverse free electron laser (IFEL) accelerator, driven by a terawatt CO2 laser, is fed into an inverse Compton scattering (ICS) collision with a retro-reflected CO2 laser pulse

Book Status of Compact Synchrotron Light Source Work at TAC

Download or read book Status of Compact Synchrotron Light Source Work at TAC written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compact electron synchrotron for x-ray lithography is a design project at the Texas Accelerator Center. The design is a four super-period symmetric cell lattice that is 18.8 meters in circumference. Numerical tracking results including edge fields affect the theoretical and mechanical design of the machine. An integrated magnet and lattice design algorithm is discussed. Structural design and measurement system parameters for a prototype superferric 3 Tesla 90° dipole are discussed. The prototype dipole magnet is currently under construction. 9 refs., 7 figs., 1 tab.

Book Storage Ring Based Inverse Compton X ray Sources

Download or read book Storage Ring Based Inverse Compton X ray Sources written by Benedikt Sebastian Günther and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-04-13 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis presents research on novel laboratory-scale synchrotron X-ray sources based on inverse Compton scattering and applications of their X-ray radiation using the Munich Compact Light Source (MuCLS) as an example. It provides an introduction to the theory of this laser-electron interaction, laser resonators and X-ray interactions with matter. On this basis, upgrades to the laser system including the development of a new laser optic, X-ray beam stabilisation and two techniques for fast X-ray energy switching of inverse Compton sources are presented. On the application side, the beamline, designed and developed for the inverse Compton X-ray source at the MuCLS, is described before various techniques and applications are demonstrated at this laboratory-scale synchrotron X-ray facility. Among them are K-edge subtraction imaging, X-ray phase contrast imaging and X-ray absorption spectroscopy. Additionally, a new X-ray microscopy technique, called full-field structured-illumination super-resolution X-ray transmission microscopy, is presented. Apart from research conducted at the MuCLS, this thesis contains an in-depth overview on the state of the art of the various types of inverse Compton X-ray sources that have been realised so far. Accordingly, this thesis may serve as a guide and reference work for researchers working with inverse Compton X-ray sources as well as future users of such devices.
