Book Principles and Practices of Interconnection Networks

Download or read book Principles and Practices of Interconnection Networks written by William James Dally and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-03-06 with total page 581 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the greatest challenges faced by designers of digital systems is optimizing the communication and interconnection between system components. Interconnection networks offer an attractive and economical solution to this communication crisis and are fast becoming pervasive in digital systems. Current trends suggest that this communication bottleneck will be even more problematic when designing future generations of machines. Consequently, the anatomy of an interconnection network router and science of interconnection network design will only grow in importance in the coming years. This book offers a detailed and comprehensive presentation of the basic principles of interconnection network design, clearly illustrating them with numerous examples, chapter exercises, and case studies. It incorporates hardware-level descriptions of concepts, allowing a designer to see all the steps of the process from abstract design to concrete implementation. - Case studies throughout the book draw on extensive author experience in designing interconnection networks over a period of more than twenty years, providing real world examples of what works, and what doesn't. - Tightly couples concepts with implementation costs to facilitate a deeper understanding of the tradeoffs in the design of a practical network. - A set of examples and exercises in every chapter help the reader to fully understand all the implications of every design decision.

Book Interconnections for Computer Communications and Packet Networks

Download or read book Interconnections for Computer Communications and Packet Networks written by Roberto Rojas-Cessa and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-11-03 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces different interconnection networks applied to different systems. Interconnection networks are used to communicate processing units in a multi-processor system, routers in communication networks, and servers in data centers. Queuing techniques are applied to interconnection networks to support a higher utilization of resources. There are different queuing strategies, and these determine not only the performance of the interconnection network, but also the set of requirements to make them work effectively and their cost. Routing algorithms are used to find routes to destinations and directions in what information travels. Additional properties, such as avoiding deadlocks and congestion, are sought. Effective routing algorithms need to be paired up with these networks. The book will introduce the most relevant interconnection networks, queuing strategies, and routing algorithm. It discusses their properties and how these leverage the performance of the whole interconnection system. In addition, the book covers additional topics for memory management and congestion avoidance, used to extract higher performance from the interconnection network.

Book Robust Communication Networks Interconnection and Survivability

Download or read book Robust Communication Networks Interconnection and Survivability written by Nathaniel Dean and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2000 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of a DIMACS Workshop on Robust Communication Networks held as part of the Special Year on Networks. Theoreticians and practitioners presented papers on the roles of architectural interconnection and survivability in the design, construction, operation, and application of robust communication networks. Due to the advent of VSLI and fiber optics technologies, it has become possible and feasible to design and construct large scale, high performance, high speed wireline and wireless communication networks that are also robust. This opens many challenging issues and problems for both the theory community and practitioners. Of particular interest is how these technological advances lead the way to new and challenging mathematical frontiers and set the direction for future research on and implementation of robust communication networks. The nine papers chosen for this volume represent the state of the art from a variety of perspectives.

Download or read book Wearable Antennas and Body Centric Communication written by Shiban Kishen Koul and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-18 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents state-of-the-art technologies, trends and applications with a focus on the healthcare domain for ultra-wideband (3.1–10.6 GHz) and 60 GHz (57–66 GHz) wireless communication systems. Due to various key features such as miniaturized antenna design, low power, high data rate, less effects on the human body, relatively less crowded spectrum, these technologies are becoming popular in various fields of biomedical applications and day-to-day life. The book highlights various aspects of these technologies related to body-centric communication, including antenna design requirements, channel modeling and characterization for WBANs, current fabrication and antenna design strategies for textile, flexible and implanted antennas. Apart from the general requirements and study related to these frequency bands, various application specific topics such as localization and tracking, physical activity recognition and assessment, vital sign monitoring and medical imaging are covered in detail. The book concludes with the glimpses of future aspects of the UWB and 60 GHz technology which includes IoT for healthcare and smart living, novel antenna materials and application of machine learning algorithms for overall performance enhancement.
