Book Schein s Common Sense Prevention and Management of Surgical Complications

Download or read book Schein s Common Sense Prevention and Management of Surgical Complications written by Moshe Schein, and published by tfm Publishing Limited. This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 589 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The enthusiastic feedback received from readers of the international bestseller Schein's Common Sense Emergency Abdominal Surgery (now in its 3rd edition, translated to seven languages; Springer Verlag; ISBN 9783540748205) inspired the editors to do a similar book dedicated to surgical complications: practical, non-formal, internationally relevant (in all types of practice and levels of hospitals) – and definitely not politically correct: what is considered taboo by others is not taboo for us; here we discuss everything! As in the editors’ previous book, the use of references is restricted to the absolute minimum, and citing figures and percentages is avoided as much as possible. The chapters in this book are the opinion of experts – each contributor has a vast personal knowledge and clinical experience in the field he is writing about. This book will help all surgeons (and their patients), avoid the misery of complications, and will provide advice on the management of those that are unavoidable. Complications and death are an integral component of surgery. Surgeons have to look death in the eyes, try to prevent it and vanquish it – this is what this book is all about. "Schein’s books are always terrific reads, conveying pithy observations and practical advice and doing so with wit and scholarship. This latest is surely a must for every surgeon’s bookshelf." Abraham Verghese MD, author of CUTTING FOR STONE

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although urology is a surgical specialty, it has become apparent that changes in health care delivery and financing have led to an increasing volume of care being provided by urologists in their offices. A major part of the revenue of a urology practice depends on office production and efficient management. To have a successful practice, the produc tive, committed urologist must have a thorough understanding of the procedures and problems that need to be dealt with in the office. Moreover. the urologist must play an active role in the administration and business aspects of running the office. Surprisingly, very little has been written about the office practice of urology. Office Urology: The Clinician's Guide presents a fresh, practical, and concise text book covering the vital issues that the urologist must face on a daily basis in the office. The initial chapters of the textbook cover the critical aspects of managing the urologic office, such as principles of management, marketing the practice, proper billing and coding, advanced information systems, and important legal issues. The book is not intended to review in detail the academic aspects of the various pathologies pertaining to urology, which have been well covered in several other textbooks. Instead, the clinical chapters deal with practical issues, such as selecting appropriate treatment and counsel ing patients on the optimal therapy for the problems that the urologist frequently man ages. The individual authors have demonstrated expertise in their fields.

Download or read book Clinical Urology Illustrated written by R.B. Brown and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this precise and authoritative urological text Mr Ronald Brown and his associates have scored two firsts. In its emphasis throughout on the im portance of clinical assessment, history taking and physical examination, together with its wealth of illustrations, it offers a' unique view of genitourinary medicine; and it is the first clinical urology text to be written by an Australian. The authors' approach to their subject is ideal for students and physicians confronted with patients with genitourinary problems. The text is concise, the references valuable and the index comprehensive. I was particularly in terested in the chapter on Paediatric Urology with its admirably succinct of hypospadias, but the outstanding feature of the whole book discussion is the line drawings and illustrative x-rays, not only excellent in themselves but in their presentation: the clear uncrowded layout making it easy for the reader to consult the appropriate illustration nearby, and where helpful there has been no hesitation in using the same diagram in several different places. If my students know everything that's in this book they will know more than most urologists. It is especially gratifying to me to see this fine book emanate from Australia and to know that four of the authors have had their stimulus to excellence in work here at UCLA.
