One paper discusses the role of supercooling in the winter survival mechanism of and ecological distribution of many plant communities. Another paper evaluates the Cholodny-Went theory of shoot geotropism that there is strong evidence in auxin redistribution occurring in a rapid manner to cause geotropic curvature. The magnitude of auxin redistribution is too rare to cause differential growth. Some insect pests have specific nutritional requirements and well-developed mechanisms for selecting their plant host. One paper enumerates the benefits of using insect-resistant host plant varieties, such as the non-incurrence of extra costs, these are environmentally safe, and are compatible with most other methods of pest control. Another paper discusses the nature and possible genetic manipulation of a complex bacteria, the actinomycetes, as well as its role as antibiotic producer. Another paper examines the nature of seed storage proteins and of the cellular processes that are related in their synthesis and deposition especially in cereals and legume. This book is a detailed look at the first chapter of the Bible with systematic comments on every phrase. My hope for this book is to counteract some of the unfortunate Creation traditions. These ancient traditions are unfortunate because they do not stem from a whole-Bible approach to interpreting Genesis 1 and are at odds with the prevailing scientific knowledge of our days. Each phrase of each verse is clearly highlighted, followed by the interpretation, any application, and the scientific understanding, if any applies. This book is primarily designed as a reference book, though many people may be interested in reading it cover to cover. Because Genesis 1 uses repeated phrases, there is some repetition in this commentary, though I have tried to minimize the repetition. Be prepared to see Genesis as you've never seen it before: in light of modern science, an old earth, and even evolutionary theory.

The ability to delve deeper into an organism’s proteome, identify an array of post-translational modifications and profile differentially abundant proteins has greatly expanded the utilization of proteomics. Improvements to instrumentation in conjunction with the development of these reproducible workflows have driven the adoption and application of this technology by a wider research community. However, the full potential of proteomics is far from being fully exploited in plant biology and its translational application needs to be further developed. In 2011, a group of plant proteomic researchers established the International Plant Proteomics Organization (INPPO) to advance the utilization of this technology in plants as well as to create a way for plant proteomics researchers to interact, collaborate and exchange ideas. The INPPO conducted its inaugural world congress in mid 2014 at the University of Hamburg (Germany). Plant proteomic researchers from around the world were in attendance and the event marked the maturation of this research community. The Research Topic captures the opinions, ideas and research discussed at the congress and encapsulates the approaches that were being applied in plant proteomics.
