Book Work Life Balance and the Economic Crisis

Download or read book Work Life Balance and the Economic Crisis written by Anthony Forsyth and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2015-10-28 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No one can deny the significance attributed to the issue of reconciling work and private life by contemporary society, the EU and other international organisations. Its relevance is evident in the multifaceted nature of this topic and the need for each party to the employment contract to strike a proper balance between professional and personal responsibilities, based on the assumption that people can successfully harmonise their work with life. Following on from these considerations, this volume provides a detailed analysis of work-life balance and its regulation in a number of EU countries, emphasizing the consequences that the current economic crisis has brought about in this field.--

Book The New World Architecture

    Book Details:
  • Author : Jose M Magone
  • Publisher : Transaction Publishers
  • Release : 2011-12-31
  • ISBN : 1412838037
  • Pages : 352 pages

Download or read book The New World Architecture written by Jose M Magone and published by Transaction Publishers. This book was released on 2011-12-31 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The collapse of the bipolar world sustained by the United States and the former Soviet Union led to a power vacuum in the 1990s that the European Union has only reluctantly begun to fill. It is under pressure to take over important international tasks and roles in order to develop a new equilibrium in the system of international relations. After 2000, reforms were undertaken so that the European Union could deal more efficiently with the tasks the new political system had acquired since the early 1990s. With respect to its international role, reorganization of the EU's external relations department was high on the list. The New World Architecture explores the contribution that the European Union is making to the emerging global governance system. It discusses the theoretical and historical aspects of European integration within the framework of the emerging regional EU and global governance systems. It explores three regimes of governance that are contributing to holding together the new emerging EU multilevel governance system. None of these is complete; all are partial. They include the political regime of governance; the socioeconomic regime of governance; and the territorial regime of governance. The author assesses the impact of the European Union on global politics. The Mediterranean and Latin America represent regions in which the European Union is investing considerable effort in order to create new forms of cooperation. Magone argues that within the next twenty-five years global governance may and should emerge as the new and reconfigured stable system of international relations. In this system, the European Union is and will remain the most advanced regional system. This volume will be of interest to specialists, scholars, and students of European Politics and the European Union.

Book Labour Issues in Export Processing Zones in South Asia

Download or read book Labour Issues in Export Processing Zones in South Asia written by A. S. Oberai and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Export processing zones (EPZs) have become one of the major features of labour markets in South Asia. Foreign investments have become a crucial component in investments within these zones and South Asian governments are increasingly competing with each other in offering generous incentives and privileges to attract investments and entrepreneurs. This paper emphasize that social dialogue will help in promoting not only employment opportunities in the EPZs, but also decent work conditions for all concerned. It also suggest that the foundation for comparative and competitive advantage should be built not on cheap labour but on value addition.
