Download or read book Come with a Hunger Come with a Thirst Be Filled to Overflow written by Juliet McCarter and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-06-17 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two of our basic physical needs as humans are for food and drink. God, our creator placed within us a trigger switch that lets us know that our body is hungry and or thirsty. This happens in our natural bodies. That same principle is operating in our spirit, the part that God gave to every human. This spirit has a longing that only He can completely fill. Some try various things and ideologies and still come up empty, but Jesus is saying, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls" (Matthew 11:28-29, KJV, Emphasis mine). He is the only One who can supply, or better yet, fill that need. He made you and He know all about you and still says, come. Come with a Hunger, Come with a Thirst, Be Filled to Overflow was written for people who have a need, an emptiness that nothing has completely satisfied or filled. It is a God-induced hunger and thirst that He purposely placed in everyone. Many have "bumped" into Him along the way, not realizing at the time that He had set up the meeting. He cares that much and wants to completely fill those hungry and thirsty places. Matthew 5:6 states, "They shall be filled." This narrative, as I call it, is not one where you must start at the beginning to get a full understanding as to what is being addressed. If one chooses to start at the end or in the middle, it will be okay because all of it is about the multifaceted Holy God and how He has always had a plan to give each and every one what was needed in their life, and that included you! If you choose not to start at the beginning, you will still find His richness interwoven throughout the pages. He so much wants to fill each of us with what is needed to face and live this life while enlightening others along this journey. In some areas you will find it to be a devotional that day, giving direction for the many changes and challenges life brings. At times, you may find yourself laughing as you begin to see Jesus as both man and God, experiencing life as you do with its ups and downs. Tears of joy may fall from time to time because your spirit is in agreement by the thoughts He has been giving to you and now it is right before your eyes. Prepare to learn of some mysteries that you may have never heard before, but wondered about this never-ending Love story between humans and Divinity. God BLESS!

Download or read book A Hunger for God written by John Piper and published by Inter-Varsity Press. This book was released on 2013-04-23 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is an appetite for God. And it can be awakened. I invite you to turn from the dulling effects of food and the dangers of idolatry, and to say with some simple fast: "This much, O God, I want you." Our appetites dictate the direction of our lives - whether it be the cravings of our stomachs, the passionate desire for possessions or power, or the longings of our spirits for God. But for the Christian, the hunger for anything besides God can be an arch-enemy. While our hunger for God - and Him alone - is the only thing that will bring victory. Do you have that hunger for Him? As John Piper puts it: "If we don't feel strong desires for the manifestation of the glory of God, it is not because you have drunk deeply and are satisfied. It is because we have nibbled so long at the table of the world. Our soul is stuffed with small things, and there is no room for the great." If we are full of what the world offers, then perhaps a fast might express, or even increase, our soul's appetite for God. Between the dangers of self-denial and self-indulgence is this path of pleasant pain called fasting. It is the path John Piper invites you to travel in this book. For when God is the supreme hunger of your heart, He will be supreme in everything. And when you are most satisfied in Him, He will be most glorified in you.

Download or read book Overflow of the Spirit written by Mark Virkler and published by Whitaker House. This book was released on 2020-11-17 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All of the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available continuously, effortlessly, and naturally to every Christian. First Corinthians 12:7–11 reveals the nine-fold manifestation—wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, distinguishing between spirits, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues—but the Holy Spirit has much more that He wants to share with all Christians and He is ready to fill them to overflowing. Most people believe they can only have one or two of the gifts mentioned in Paul’s letter, yet the Bible clearly shows that believers can receive all of them. In fact, the apostle himself probably evidenced all nine gifts. However, these are only examples of the way the Spirit of God may reveal Himself to His people. They are not the only ways He will do so. In Overflow of the Spirit: How to Release His Gifts in Every Area of Your Life, Dr. Mark Virkler and co-author Charity Virkler Kayembe, his daughter, endeavor to teach you how to connect with the Holy Spirit moment by moment and intentionally draw upon His supernatural abilities. You will learn how to tune to the indwelling Holy Spirit and release Him into every situation of your life. Rather than life being you in action, it will be the Holy Spirit in action through you. Blessings will overtake you as you live and walk by the Spirit. The overflow of the Spirit opens the door to an entire lifestyle of intimacy with God that, once mastered, releases the heavens and God’s provisions for your life. The authors’ clear, lineal, biblical teaching is interspersed with real-life stories that clearly illustrate each point. Application exercises at the end of each chapter help to guide you into putting the lessons into action.

Download or read book God s Plan for Spiritual Battle written by Russell M. Stendal and published by Ransom Press International. This book was released on 2024-09-18 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I love a good fight. When unjustly attacked, I have learned to seek the guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit and retaliate by Overcoming Evil with Good. There is a huge difference between a Peacemaker and a Pacifist! This Battle Plan for spiritual warfare, gleaned from the life and message of Jesus — especially the Sermon on the Mount and the Beatitudes — was on my heart even before I was kidnapped by terrorists and held hostage under extreme conditions in 1983. Since then, thousands of missionaries, pastors, and other Christians have been kidnapped, murdered, or forced to free from their places of ministry in rural Colombia. Had these Christians known and understood this battle plan for spiritual warfare, they could have been victorious instead of prematurely suffering defeat. Many who did choose to remain in the path of ever present danger have rallied around this message. A thriving underground church is multiplying in a huge area (about the size of North Korea) in the south and east of Columbia where Bibles, church buildings, formal ministry, and even house meetings have been prohibited for more than 25 years. Severe persecution in rural Colombia has actually served to bring real Christians together in deepening Christian relationships, identify the true church, and cleanse believers from corruption. This has been possible because of the remnant that has been chosen to fight the good fight of faith.

Book excerpt: The perfect gift! A specially priced, beautifully designed hardcover edition of The Joy of the Gospel with a foreword by Robert Barron and an afterword by James Martin, SJ. “The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus… In this Exhortation I wish to encourage the Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelization marked by this joy, while pointing out new paths for the Church’s journey in years to come.” – Pope Francis This special edition of Pope Francis's popular message of hope explores themes that are important for believers in the 21st century. Examining the many obstacles to faith and what can be done to overcome those hurdles, he emphasizes the importance of service to God and all his creation. Advocating for “the homeless, the addicted, refugees, indigenous peoples, the elderly who are increasingly isolated and abandoned,” the Holy Father shows us how to respond to poverty and current economic challenges that affect us locally and globally. Ultimately, Pope Francis demonstrates how to develop a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ, “to recognize the traces of God’s Spirit in events great and small.” Profound in its insight, yet warm and accessible in its tone, The Joy of the Gospel is a call to action to live a life motivated by divine love and, in turn, to experience heaven on earth. Includes a foreword by Robert Barron, author of Catholicism: A Journey to the Heart of the Faith and James Martin, SJ, author of Jesus: A Pilgrimage
