I must say that I have been intrigued with the book of Revelation for years. Through those years I have been rotating from position to position in reference to pre-trib, mid-trib and post-tribulation. As I would read various scriptures, they would seem to contradict each other and point to a specific, yet different time for the return of Christ on the clouds to gather His saints. Perhaps you, too, have been confused about the timing of the second coming of Jesus and the end times. Maybe you, too, have changed your position a few times depending on the various scriptures you happen to be reading at the time. Or, is there a chance that you hold a particular position, but if pressed to support it, welllll In addition to our own confusions and variations, there are the traditional beliefs and doctrines within the various churches that differ as much as the churches themselves. I have asked questions to pastors, deacons, Sunday School teachers and other faithful saints and have received widely differing opinions about this subject. There were none who could entirely support their positions with scriptures that did not conflict with their own opinions. The usual final response from all I have spoken with goes somewhat like this: ""Well, these things are just not meant to be understood at this time."" UNTIL NOW, at least for me. This book shares with specific scriptural documentation that will remove all confusion about timing of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. I hope you are blessed by it. "

His study stands alone in providing a comprehensive examination of donkeys in ancient Near Eastern texts, the archaeological record, and the Hebrew Bible. Way demonstrates that donkeys held a distinct status in the beliefs and rituals of the ancient Near East and especially Canaan-Israel. The focus on ceremony and symbol encompasses social and religious thoughts and practices that are reflected in ancient texts and material culture relating to the donkey. Ceremonial considerations include matters of sacrifice, treaty ratification, consumption, death, burial, “scapegoat” rituals, and foundation deposits; symbolic considerations include matters of characterization, association, function, behavior, and iconographic depiction. However, the distinction between ceremony and symbol is not strict. In many cases, these two categories are symbiotic. The need for this study on donkeys is very apparent in the disciplines that study the biblical world. There is not a single monograph or article that treats this subject comprehensively. Philologists have discussed the meaning of the Amorite phrase “to kill a jackass,” and archaeologists have discussed the phenomenon of equid burials. But until now, neither philologists nor archaeologists have attempted to pull together all the ceremonial and symbolic data on donkeys from burials, ancient Near Eastern texts, and the Hebrew Bible. Way’s study fills this void.
