Book Face Detection and Modeling for Recognition

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Face recognition has received substantial attention from researchers in biometrics, computer vision, pattern recognition, and cognitive psychology communities because of the increased attention being devoted to security, man-machine communication, content-based image retrieval, and image/video coding. We have proposed two automated recognition paradigms to advance face recognition technology. Three major tasks involved in face recognition systems are: (i) face detection, (ii) face modeling, and (iii) face matching. We have developed a face detection algorithm for color images in the presence of various lighting conditions as well as complex backgrounds. Our detection method first corrects the color bias by a lighting compensation technique that automatically estimates the parameters of reference white for color correction. We overcame the difficulty of detecting the low-luma and high-luma skin tones by applying a nonlinear transformation to the Y CbCr color space. Our method generates face candidates based on the spatial arrangement of detected skin patches. We constructed eye, mouth, and face boundary maps to verify each face candidate. Experimental results demonstrate successful detection of faces with different sizes, color, position, scale, orientation, 3D pose, and expression in several photo collections. 3D human face models augment the appearance-based face recognition approaches to assist face recognition under the illumination and head pose variations. For the two proposed recognition paradigms, we have designed two methods for modeling human faces based on (i) a generic 3D face model and an individual's facial measurements of shape and texture captured in the frontal view, and (ii) alignment of a semantic face graph, derived from a generic 3D face model, onto a frontal face image.

Book Detection and Identification of Organic Compounds

Download or read book Detection and Identification of Organic Compounds written by Miroslov Vecera and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The American edition of our monograph is not a mere translation of the Czech edition, which appeared some five years ago. We have had to respect the fact that even such a short period has sufficed for progress in this field, and that the field of application of methods of organic analysis has widened. We have therefore revised a number of chapters in Part 1, the general part of the monograph-mainly those devoted to chromatographic methods, which have been extended and complemented by methods of thin-layer chromatography and electrophoresis. The chapters on the theory of color reactions and on analytical literature have also been extended; the chapter on spectral methods has been extended by including the use of proton magnetic resonance in organic analysis, and the list of references has been enlarged by adding books of importance for organic analysis. In Part 2, the part dealing specifically with various elements and chemical groups, we have extended the chapters on solubility and on acids and bases. The methods for the detection and identification of given classes of compounds have also been supplemented by references to recent papers.

Book Face validation using skin eyes and mouth detection

Download or read book Face validation using skin eyes and mouth detection written by Б. Зено and published by Litres. This book was released on 2022-01-27 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Developmental Robotics

Download or read book Developmental Robotics written by Angelo Cangelosi and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2015-01-23 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive overview of an interdisciplinary approach to robotics that takes direct inspiration from the developmental and learning phenomena observed in children's cognitive development. Developmental robotics is a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to robotics that is directly inspired by the developmental principles and mechanisms observed in children's cognitive development. It builds on the idea that the robot, using a set of intrinsic developmental principles regulating the real-time interaction of its body, brain, and environment, can autonomously acquire an increasingly complex set of sensorimotor and mental capabilities. This volume, drawing on insights from psychology, computer science, linguistics, neuroscience, and robotics, offers the first comprehensive overview of a rapidly growing field. After providing some essential background information on robotics and developmental psychology, the book looks in detail at how developmental robotics models and experiments have attempted to realize a range of behavioral and cognitive capabilities. The examples in these chapters were chosen because of their direct correspondence with specific issues in child psychology research; each chapter begins with a concise and accessible overview of relevant empirical and theoretical findings in developmental psychology. The chapters cover intrinsic motivation and curiosity; motor development, examining both manipulation and locomotion; perceptual development, including face recognition and perception of space; social learning, emphasizing such phenomena as joint attention and cooperation; language, from phonetic babbling to syntactic processing; and abstract knowledge, including models of number learning and reasoning strategies. Boxed text offers technical and methodological details for both psychology and robotics experiments.

Book Organic Semiconductor Devices for Light Detection

Download or read book Organic Semiconductor Devices for Light Detection written by Jonas Kublitski and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-03-03 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent decades, the way human beings interact with technology has been significantly transformed. In our daily life, ever fewer manually controlled devices are used, giving way to automatized houses, cars, and devices. A significant part of this technological revolution relies on signal detection and evaluation, placing detectors as core devices for further technological developments. This book introduces a versatile contribution to achieving light sensing: Organic Semiconductor Devices for Light Detection. The text is organized to guide the reader through the main concepts of light detection, followed by a introduction to the semiconducting properties of organic molecular solids. The sources of non-idealities in organic photodetectors are presented in chapter 5, and a new device concept, which aims to overcome some of the limitation discussed in the previous chapters, is demonstrated. Finally, an overview of the field is given with a selection of open points for future investigation.
