Download or read book Autofluorescence Bronchoscopy written by Manfred Wagner and published by . This book was released on 2007-01 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At present lung cancer is the most common cancer in the world and responsible for over 1 million deaths worldwide. Advances in bronchoscopy have helped to increase detection rates of central type early lung cancer. These lesions are invisible on the basis of radiological methods. They usually show only subtle changes of the bronchial mucosa and are therefore sometimes difficult to identify by conventional bronchoscopy. The data showing the ability to increase the diagnostic rate for early lung cancer in the central airways by autofluorescence bronchoscopy are convincing. Video-chip-autofluorescence bronchoscopy seems to be one of the technologies with the largest impact on diagnostic bronchoscopy in the last decades.

Download or read book Imaging in Photodynamic Therapy written by Michael R. Hamblin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-02-03 with total page 743 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the broad field of cellular, molecular, preclinical, and clinical imaging either associated with or combined with photodynamic therapy (PDT). It showcases how this approach is used clinically for cancer, infections, and diseases characterized by unwanted tissue such as atherosclerosis or blindness. Because the photosensitizers are also fluorescent, the book also addresses various imaging systems such as confocal microscopy and small animal imaging systems, and highlights how they have been used to follow and optimize treatment, and to answer important mechanistic questions. Chapters also discuss how imaging has made important contributions to clinical outcomes in skin, bladder, and brain cancers, as well as in the development of theranostic agents for detection and treatment of disease. This book provides a resource for physicians and research scientists in cell biology, microscopy, optics, molecular imaging, oncology, and drug discovery.

Download or read book Bronchology and Bronchoesophagology State of the Art written by Hirokuni Yoshimura and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 980 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main areas of bronchology and bronchoesophagology are hypopharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchus and esophagus and their functions as pathways of air, foods and phonation. These functions will be disturbed by infection, trauma, tumor, nerve paralysis and disorders of the central nervous system. These congresses addressed all aspects of bronchology and bronchoesophagology and also included sessions on others areas of interventional pulmonology, such as thoracoscopy. The congresses also highlighted major recent developments in telemedicine and minimally invasive diagnosis and surgery, such as the use of CCD chip technology in videoendoscopy. Future developments were addressed in two special lectures: "Micromachine" by Mr. Mizuno (Japan) and "Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease" by Prof. Dent (Australia).
