Download or read book Opening to Darkness written by Zenju Earthlyn Manuel and published by Sounds True. This book was released on 2023-03-21 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “In darkness, we become devoted to clarity, courage, peace, and harmony. We discover the basic goodness of all humanity when we experience darkness together,” Zenju Earthlyn Manuel writes. “Life itself is a dark experience—a magical experience.” When you hear the word “darkness,” what does it make you feel—horror, danger, or maybe despair? We’ve been conditioned to fear and avoid darkness and blackness, yet Zenju Earthlyn Manuel challenges us to consider: “What if we chose to go deeper into darkness instead of running from it? What might we find there beyond our longing for light?” Drawing on the ancient wisdom found in Zen Buddhism and African and Native American indigenous traditions, Osho Zenju reveals how a change in perspective and increased wisdom can help us awaken to the sacredness of dark experiences in our lives—so we may experience a reality beyond avoidance and fear. Opening to Darkness will take you on a courageous journey into the mandala of darkness, a symbolic expression of your inner world, where you will travel through eight gateways that are inspired by Buddha’s Eightfold Path. Along your way, you will meet dark mothers from India, Nigeria, Japan, Haiti, and Dahomey, who both protect and destroy. Osho Zenju provides reflective inquiry, blessings, and meditations as you navigate your way through the vast depths of the unseen. It is through this spiritual pilgrimage that we learn how to: • Experience the wonders of life that can flourish only in the dark • Discover a collective doorway to healing and deep transformation • Awaken to the illusory nature of light versus dark • Illuminate false perceptions and beliefs of darkness • Heal the fear and anxiety around darkness and blackness Wrapped in gorgeous lyrical prose, Osho Zenju’s offerings provide deep soul relief and collective strength to embrace the dark—so we may reunite with the sacred process of darkness that flows through the canvas of our lives.
Download or read book Luminous Darkness written by Deborah Eden Tull and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2022-09-27 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A resonant call to explore the darkness in life, in nature, and in consciousness—including difficult emotions like uncertainty, grief, fear, and xenophobia—through teachings, embodied meditations, and mindful inquiry that provide us with a powerful path to healing. Darkness is deeply misunderstood in today’s world; yet it offers powerful medicine, serenity, strength, healing, and regeneration. All insight, vision, creativity, and revelation arise from darkness. It is through learning to stay present and meet the dark with curiosity rather than judgment that we connect to an unwavering light within. Welcoming darkness with curiosity, rather than fear or judgment, enables us to access our innate capacity for compassion and collective healing. Dharma teacher, shamanic practitioner, and deep ecologist Deborah Eden Tull addresses the spiritual, ecological, psychological, and interpersonal ramifications of our bias towards light. Tull explores the medicine of darkness for personal and collective healing, through topics such as: Befriending the Night: The Radiant Teachings of Darkness Honoring Our Pain for Our World Seeing in the Dark: The Quiet Power of Receptivity Dreams, Possibility, and Moral Imagination Releasing Fear—Embracing Emergence Tull shows us how the labeling of darkness as “negative” becomes a collective excuse to justify avoiding everything that makes us uncomfortable: racism, spiritual bypass, environmental destruction. We can only find the radical path to wholeness by learning to embrace the interplay of both darkness and light.
Download or read book The Forgotten written by Teboho Pitso and published by African Sun Media. This book was released on 2023-05-20 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book focuses on uncovering lies and myths that sustain the colonial and European supremacist agendas and restores Africa’s role in originating civilisation, science, mathematics, philosophy, spirituality, and Christianity. It forms part of questioning the deification of Global North episteme as a universal theory. The volume thus contributes to Southern theorisation that draws from multiple practices and lived experiences of those from the austral geographic location (Global South) whose understanding of time is secular. Such theorisation challenges and denounces the imperialist gaze on contemporary science as the sole spectacle and arbiter of its significance in society. The Global South episteme, whose sources are indigenous practices, collective knowing, and collective experiences, has all the right to claim its stake in hallowed spaces of knowledge production.

Download or read book How to Be an Adult in Faith and Spirituality written by David Richo and published by Paulist Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does a genuinely adult spirituality look like? Many adults find it difficult to answer this question because they often retain a childlike understanding of God and religion. This book explores that phenomenon, and then offers adult alternatives in the light of mysticism, depth psychology, and the evolutionary cosmology. Written for the average person and without denominational bias, this book describes how a mature faith is nourished by religious views that are open-minded rather than provincial, metaphorical rather than literal, and respectful of individuality rather than rigid and rule bound. How to Be an Adult in Faith and Spirituality offers a gentle reply to the atheism of our postmodern world by guiding readers along a path of enriching spiritual growth and by awakening them to the potential of the transcendent - the place within us and beyond us where true and lasting faith abounds. Download or read book Gender Equity Reconciliation written by William Keepin and published by SCB Distributors. This book was released on 2022-10-03 with total page 778 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gender equity is woefully overdue—we cannot wait any longer. Yet gender equity will wait, just as it has for thousands of years, until women and men and people of all genders co-create it together. One-sided solutions are not enough, and shame and blame will get us nowhere. The new pathway to healing and creating right relations between the genders can only be forged by courageously confronting gender injustice from all sides, and moving through the ensuing ‘collective alchemy’ to transform gender injustice from the inside out. Inspired by the principles of Truth and Reconciliation developed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu in South Africa, the Gender Equity and Reconciliation International (GERI) process has been implemented over three decades for thousands of people on six continents. Guided by the twin powers of truth and love, and supported by skillful facilitation, the GERI process—as demonstrated in this book—creates safe forums to empower the unraveling of gender and sexual conditioning with alchemical depth and acumen, and initiate a whole new culture of gender relations and beloved community. With contributions from dozens of GERI participants, twelve distinguished world leaders in related fields, and special inserts from such notable persons as Stanislav Grof, M.D., Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, and Peter Rutter, M.D., this book is an invaluable resource for laypersons and professionals, politicians and psychotherapists, educators and religious leaders, who are eager to discover new proven pathways to transform gender-based conflicts and address the needs of young and old in their homes, therapy practices, organizations, and congregations across the globe. Gender Equity is the one certain step to heal humanity. ... This book and the GERI program illuminates a path to do just that. —Justin Baldoni, author of Man Enough Inspiring and intersectional approach, ... underscores the transformative power of gender justice movements. —Latanya Mapp Frett, President and CEO of Global Fund for Women Magnificent heartfelt healing work, ... gifts us a map of deep positive transformation. —Jack Kornfield, author of A Path With Heart A groundbreaking guide for all who want fulfilling relationships, and a more caring and equitable world. —Riane Eisler, author of The Chalice and the Blade and Nurturing Our Humanity

Emphasizing the notion of a developing servant-consciousness and explaining the composition of a servant-leader disposition, this book analyzes the way that leadership has evolved. The characteristics of a servant-leader are categorized into five primary capacities, each with a focus on holistic listening and path-finding foresight. Download or read book Cosmic Beginnings written by Soyinka I. Ogunbusola and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-12-23 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This genre falls under the category of Sci-fi fantasy thriller a works that is just as exciting as the adventures of Lora Croft in “Tomb Raiders” I chose this genre to create characters that exist outside of the everyday urban-scape theme. One of the main characters is a black woman; a seasoned sea captain for example. I wanted to create another kind of hero, in another part of the world, on another kind of mission based on another mindset; more of a West African theme influenced by the folklore of the ancient Yoruba of Southwestern Nigeria which is deeply submerged in cosmological and celestial influences and is viewed as individual characteristic energies expressing themselves universally in allegorical narratives. These legends tend to be older then Western civilization. I wanted the story to be unique and the characters just as unique. This is a story told by the ancestors of the war in heaven before the creation of man...this a story of the battle of illumination and darkness the fight to maintain balance between good and evil.
Download or read book Nocturnes Popular Music and the Night written by Geoff Stahl and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-03-27 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The night and popular music have long served to energise one another, such that they appear inextricably bound together as trope and topos. This history of reciprocity has produced a range of resonant and compelling imaginaries, conjured up through countless songs and spaces dedicated to musical life after dark. Nocturnes: Popular Music and the Night is one of the first volumes to examine the relationship between night and popular music. Its scope is interdisciplinary and geographically diverse. The contributors gathered here explore how the problems, promises, and paradoxes of the night and music play off of one another to produce spaces of solace and sanctuary as well as underpinning strategies designed to police, surveil and control movements and bodies. This edited collection is a welcome addition to debates and discussions about the cultures of the night and how popular music plays a continuing role in shaping them.

Download or read book Singularities written by Andre Lepecki and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-06-17 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How does the production of performance engage with the fundamental issues of our advanced neo-capitalist age? André Lepecki surveys a decade of experimental choreography to uncover the dual meaning of ‘performance’ in the twenty-first century: not just an aesthetic category, but a mode of political power. He demonstrates the enduring ability of performance to critique and subvert this power, examining this relationship through five ‘singularities’ in contemporary dance: thingness, animality, persistence, darkness, and solidity. Exploring the works of Mette Ingvartsen, Yvonne Rainer, Ralph Lemon, Jérôme Bel and others, Lepecki uses his concept of ‘singularity’—the resistance of categorization and aesthetic identification—to examine the function of dance and performance in political and artistic debate.
Download or read book Mind Over Matter written by Susan Truett Trammell and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2019-11-18 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For centuries science and religion often have been viewed as in direct conflict. Now recent discoveries in the field of quantum physics are dissolving those perceived differences and revealing the similarities between (indeed, the intersection of) these two disciplines. Mind over Matter dispels the outdated belief that the nature of reality is not that conceived by so many for so long—from early Greek philosophers to Newtonian physics and even some twentieth-century science. Quantum science's most recent discoveries about the non-material aspects of energy have now overtaken such outmoded thinking and the belief that our universe is material in nature. As consciousness becomes the focus for so many, we are being guided to a radical and evolutionary understanding of what "God" and similar creative concepts may mean. Our understanding of what and why we are, and the role consciousness plays in both science and spirituality, is challenging us all to question old beliefs and practices that are no longer relevant. Spiritual metaphysician, Susan Trammell, invites her readers to engage in a new kind of conversation about what it truly means to be spiritual beings experiencing humanity. New revelations await anyone eager to positively influence the tipping point at which we find ourselves and our planet. Discover the means by which you individually and our collective human race can determine the future of generations to come. Written for non-scientifically educated individuals, Mind over Matter offers everyone a path forward through a fusion of scientific discoveries and spiritual relevance. In this age of chaos and confusion, may we intentionally engage in opening our minds to be all that we've come to be. http://www.susanttrammell.com/

Download or read book Issa written by Kiara Windrider and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2023-08-19 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This story began with a Kashmiri princess, Miraan, looking out in the early morning dawn towards a chariot of light being raised towards the heavens, face aglow with a flaming radiance, heart bursting with gratitude and love for all the years she was allowed to share with this most magnificent of men. And as this story began so it ends. For I am Miraan who shares this story with you, as I have heard it from his own lips, and as I have witnessed in the years I spent with him. I did not think such a love was possible; a love that grew stronger the more it was shared with all the world. He was a great healer and king, a simple monk and prophet, an extraordinary lover and friend. He was a man like any other, except that he dared himself go where few men had been before. Lovers were never meant to close themselves off from the rest of creation in isolated fantasy. Lovers find each other in every face they encounter, wherever they may be in this world. And so as I come to the end of this story, I see myself staring back at you, each of you who reads these words and makes this story your own, for my soul knows you. This story will not end until you find yourself mirrored in these words and these acts, touching the human as well as the divine spirit that dwells within. Issa was not afraid to declare himself a Sun of God, one with the Father of Light. Find your own true heart, likewise... set yourself free.
