His knight has been under his nose all along, will he claim him before it's too late for them both? As deeply as he craves his own fairy tale happily-ever-after, resort owner Cody Prescott doesn't have time for a relationship. That doesn't stop him from crushing on most men on Piedras. Luckily for him, they're emotionally unavailable or already taken, so he doesn't have to worry about getting attached. Wade Buckner, the island's handiest handyman, is tired of waiting for Cody to wake up and realize Wade is the man for the job. He's ready and willing to rescue Cody from just about anything, even questionable hotel guests. The Harvest Feast is the kick-off for the resort's one hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary and they have a full house. But something sinister is afoot at the resort, something that even his knight might not be able to rescue Cody from. Are they trying to kill him, put him out of business, or both? #grumpy-sunshine #FamilyHistory #OnlyOneBed The Real Thing, book five in the West Coast Forensics series, is dual POV and follows Cody and Wade all the way to their happy ending. Can be read as a standalone but might be better enjoyed if you start with Real Trouble, first in the WCF series.

Book What Chefs Feed Their Kids

Download or read book What Chefs Feed Their Kids written by Fanae Aaron and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do the people who know the most about food tackle the special challenges of cooking for children's palates? How do they get their children to join them at the dinner table when most kids would rather play under the tablecloth? Why do some kids love to eat broccoli, sushi, or pesto, while others insist on chicken nuggets every night? A lifelong foodie and a first-time mother, Fanae Aaron had lots of questions about how to teach her son to enjoy a variety of fresh, whole foods. So she sought out a diverse group of twenty award-winning chefs who are also parents. The book's first-class lineup includes: Eric Bromberg, Marc Murphy, Zack Gross, Ana Sortun, Piero Selvaggio, and Floyd Cardoz. These chefs stimulate their kids' curiosity about new foods by engaging them in the process without coercing them--and here they share their tips and stories, which provide an intimate glimpse into the chefs' family lives. Chefs' strategies include allowing kids to help prepare meals, taking them to farmers' markets, and giving them choices with healthy, family style meals. The book features seventy-five flavorful recipes--such as Kale and Scrambled Eggs, Baby Lamp Chops, and Nori Chips--from a variety of cuisines.

  • Author : Steve Friesen
  • Publisher : U of Nebraska Press
  • Release : 2023-12
  • ISBN : 1496238133
  • Pages : 320 pages

Download or read book Galloping Gourmet written by Steve Friesen and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 2023-12 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Galloping Gourmet explores an unfamiliar side of a familiar character in American history, William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody. In this entertaining narrative Steve Friesen explores the evolving role of eating and drinking in Buffalo Bill’s life (1846–1917). Friesen starts with Buffalo Bill’s culinary roots on the American Plains, eating simple foods such as cornbread, fried “yellow-legged” chicken, and hardtack. Buffalo Bill discovered gourmet dining while leading buffalo-hunting expeditions and scouting. As his fame increased, so did his desire and opportunities for fine dining: his early show business career allowed him to dine at some of the best restaurants in the country. Friesen examines the creation of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show in 1883, in which Cody introduced his diverse cast of employees to dining that equaled America’s best restaurants. One newspaper reporter observed that “Colonel Cody displays no more care about anything than the proper feeding of horse and man.” Cody opened the first Mexican restaurant east of the Mississippi and introduced American foodways to Europe. Equally comfortable eating around a campfire on the plains or at Delmonico’s in New York City, he also dined with leading celebrities of his day. In the final section Friesen addresses the controversies surrounding Cody’s drinking, his death, and his ongoing culinary legacy. Galloping Gourmet includes an appendix of more than thirty annotated period recipes.
